maybe it just isn't a good idea to have that big of a grow in an area where it isn't leagel? maybe it had nothing to do with RIU and everything to do with the fact that maybe it was just too big of a grow to keep a secret where he lived?

That's what I'm thinking.

I mean, buying 30 bails of pro=mix grow medium at once and at the same place could throw up a red flag.

And if be was buying large quantities of supplies everywhere like that, well, it's gonna attract some attention.

I think that he maybe got a little too comfortable with his activities.

i agree... i mean it was just an idea but now that you mention it... buying that may supplies... and he has to get his supplies to his grow site somehow... i think that sometimes bigger isn't always better. well maybe better but maybe not safer. I mean the guy was toting trailer loads of supplies around. not just a few bags of fertilizer and potting soil.

If these guys were afraid of being busted, I don't think that they'd give the cops a heads up on where they were going.

It's just that it's been getting a bit, well, juvenile around here lately.

Serious and hobby growers are usually adults and get sick of punk kids living in their mothers basements trolling up the forums.

You are spot on. RIU needs to do a better job a screening the age of new members. Ever notice how enrollment goes through the roof around the time school lets out for the summer?

i agree. i've been away from riu for a few months and now i'm back i hardly recognise any names, but it seems to be the same old noob questions getting asked in threads. almost as if riu is like high school for growers and after a while people graduate up to other sites when they get sick of the kids

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: most of the questions in the "General Growing" forum belong on "Newbie Central". And most (at least 1/2) of the stuff on "Advanced Techniques" should be in the "General Growing" section. The question is, is it better to cater to a bunch of "Newbies Gone Wild", or to actually weed out the bullshit and "Raise the Bar"? We, as contributors, can't do a damn thing about it - only the Rollitup admin staff can make things happen around here! They choose to keep the bar low by allowing the "Newbies Gone Wild" to establish the "Lowest Common Denominator", instead of creating a realistic goal of advanced learning through proper stages or levels. As long as the Admin Staff chooses to pursue this "Status Quo" there is really nothing we can do - except "Bitch about it!".

Perhaps, if the Admin Staff wanted to participate, we could talk about how, or why, things should be changed! That's just my $.02 worth!
