Neon plant after feeding

Super newbie here… Growing these for my wife. Here is my situation. Growing in Fox Farm Ocean Forest in 3 gal pots. Blue Dream Autos. Broke through the soil 54 days ago and have been growing fine under a 20 on 4 off light schedule. Both are small plants only @ 20-24 inches tall. After watering this one plant turns neon in color??? Watering @ every third day and every other watering I’m adding FF Tiger bloom with CalMag and water ph’ed to @ 6.2. Any suggestions???

Thanks for the input. I had read that once they start flowering to stop the FF big grow and FF Big bloom. I suppose I could give it a try second feeding from now…

Another question. Why do you think the the other plant isn’t doing this? Same seeds, same plant dates, same feeding /watering schedule, and purchased from the same place. Thanks again

Watering every third day sounds a bit often. Are the pots drying out before you water?

Autoflowers can be very heavy feeders - worth feeding every watering. I usually give plants veg and flower nutes during flowering.

I would advise only watering when the pot is dry, and giving them feed each time you do.

What autodoctor says is right - they are lacking nitrogen.

Thanks for the reply. The ‘every 3rd day’ was more of a average… I have a moisture meter and weighed at the beginning of the grow (yeah, that anal) so I know when they are getting dry. Everything I have read told me that FF Ocean Forest is ‘hot’ and once they flower stop with the big grow and big bloom, just use the tiger bloom. Oh well, I’ll pump them with some of the big grow and see how it goes. Thanks again for the input!!

Good good. I did wonder if that was just an approximate. We don't have Fox Farms here in the UK but I have heard its a hot soil. With that said, most of the nutes will likely have been used up in the 8 weeks your plant's been alive. I wouldn't give them a massive dose of the grow and bloom - start with the lowest recommended dose of both together. See how they respond to that, and increase the dose next feed if they don't show signs of burn on the leaf tips.

Great. I’ll give it a try. Thanks again!!!
make sure the ph of your medium is in range for good nutrient uptake first, imo, then make sure the ec of your medium is correct as well. good ph and ec of the medium with decent nutes, your plants are good

looking great, once sorted, looking amazing

who's blue dream auto? reminded me I have one as well from humbolt seeds

this is from amazon q and a on the soil you are using

''the first & last time I tried FF the 2 bags of happy frog and 1 bag of ocean forest were completely loaded with fungus gnats & larvae. The happy frog had a PH of 5.6 and the ocean forest had a PH of 4.9.''

sounds like good chance your problem is ph related.

Like @Autodoctor said.

We refer to the differences in siblings as phenotypes. Similar in many ways, but not every. It's why you hear people talking pheno hunting, keepers, clones, and mothers. Then they find an exceptional girl, they'll keep a clone and build a Mother they can in turn take many clones from.

make your own supersoil so plant has everything it needs from seed to harvest, all you do is water the plant and you won't have any defs.
I do that, and works great but I always found myself limping across the finish line. So now I also make a hot top dressing to help with flowering.

Its a myth to cut out Nitrogen during flowering.
When flowering the plant is going to produce more bulk, and hormones than anytime in its life.

All Nitrogen is, is Protein. Humans eat protein, and turn it into Nitrogen. Plants skip eating the protein process. Logically it makes no sense to cut protein, when something is trying to grow.
Weed basically likes a 1-1-2 ratio all through its life, with added epsom salts, and maybe some Monopotassium Phosphate in early-mid bloom. Then last couple weeks of flowering start cutting back on feed.

I have the same problem with one plant in my 2x4 and im running organic. It even reaches up and seems to be happy otherwise, just yellow. I cant seem to get the leaves to green back up despite my best efforts so im just gonna let it run its course

Totally agree, I always supplement with soy hydrolysate, turns my plants into beefcakes-it sucks that the "cut nitrogen" during flower bro-science is still floating around and killing yields.

Thanks, last I checked the soil was @ 6-7

I’m very familiar with ILGM blue dream…. cal mag hog….. quite possibly the biggest I’ve encountered to date…..400ppm cal mag before I stopped seeing issue…..and a nitrogen hog even in late flower……. Tough as nails though so bounce back trust me……my first 1lb+ plant was an ilgm blue dream

Soil Ph is at 6 - 7. Flushed the neon plant a few days ago. Dried out (i weigh them) and did a heavy feeding yesterday to see if the neon would subside… No dice, still looking neon compared to the sister plant. Maybe the other plant is too dark??? Who knows…. Does it look silly to anyone else?

Another thing you could try if you still see issues is to keep a more consistent soil moisture, drybacks cause swings in ph, especially using salt based nutrients. It's possible during the dryback your pH swung really hard in that pot because it's closer to a fan/dehumidifier etc and it messed up your uptake.

Not to say drybacks don't have their place, as they do induce SAR and people have been crop steering with water in other parts of agriculture for years.

I have no experience with autos though so I'm hesitant to give much advice about feeding etc.
