Nevada county outdoor. “Smart pot VS. raised planter box VS. in ground”

What do you prefer to grow in? Smart pots “200 gallon”, in ground or elevated planter boxes?? Let me know what you prefer and why. I would like to plant in ground but I am worried about drainage being an issue. The soil is not clay but is a red dirt type. I was thinking about getting it tested as well. Thank you for the input

I am a fan of smart pots above ground as big as I can afford.
@doublejj is more familiar than me about the specifics of your area imo

smart pots...100's 200's all work well. fill with the best soil you can afford.

yes. to rocky and poor soil structure. Everybody hauls in soil. We use Formula 419 from Four Seasons in Marysville....

Cool man thank you, I talked to The owner there the other day. I used rare earth Wacky Alaskan last year. Thinking of switching to four seasons

we have too many gophers to grow in ground...

Gopher mesh. I do pots though.
