A lot of answers can be found from this very informative catalog.
Look for the tab that says RESOURCES. Then check out the VIDEOS tab.
I started my third grow this week. I will post pix and lots of helpful hints as I progress.
If there's anything I can help you with please don't hesitate to ask. I am here watching the kids until mid March.
This grow will be BC God Bud
Brief Bio: I am a master gardener with an approx. 1000 plant vocabulary with special emphasis on the Orchidacea, Legume and Aster families. The three largest families in the plant kingdom. I have a thourough knowledge of plant morphology, entomology and botony.
I have tried this experiment twice before with help from people I thought I trusted.
But as the old addage goes...if you want something done right...well you know the rest.

Hi, welcome. Fellow tokers. I can't imagine a better job than to do this full time. I'm having a blast and learning things.
My flowering room is almost complete. I need to construct styrofoam walls to make better use of the 1000W Halide light distribution.
Found them at home depot . 8'x12'x3"wide pieces. I'll cut em up and erect walls . I have GEN 1 CO2 Generator and a monitor so I check. Fan to strengthen those stems and a cat that doesn''t like to eat the stuff, fortunetly for her.
I'll post more pix in about a month. Any tips would be appreciated.

I can't imagine any tips that you would want from us. I'd love to have your background knowledge of plants. If you can grow and sustain orchids, you can grow a weed. :) Welcome to RIU!! :)

Man I love Cymbidiums blooming now and moth orchids that you can get in home depot for 10 bucks. I took care of a big estate complete with horses and paddocks and woodland with beautiful things blooming here in the Piedmont area of the Delaware Valley. Have you been to Philly? Longwood Gardens? I love to roam the grounds where the tourists don't go and smoke up. lol. :-P

DSC00029.jpgHere's a pic of BC God taken on 2/25. I just cut a 4/5 week old plant germinated on Jan 17. I pruned because I want four large colas. DSC00028.jpg

Yeah, I top all of my plants too. I just did FIM my G13 Pineapple Express lady about an hour ago. She was a freebie from the Tude so she is a loner. :) I like to grow ScrOG style and keep my plant count down, so I'm always topping and fimming. The more branching the happier I am. :) Your ladies are pretty and your soil looks beautiful. You are well on the way to a nice grow journal.

Thank You...I'm anxious to learn your methods because I want to see if I can increase yield with lower energy output. I grew those 14 plants in T5's and I was frankly impressed.

I actually just picked up a bank of 2' T-5's, a 4 bulb mixed spectrum from New Wave. High Output and polished German reflector, for my new MicroGarden Flood and Drain system. That will be a new journal.

DSC00039.jpgDSC00037.jpgHere are pix of BC God. Just flipped them. Taken on March 10,2011
Lights are 2.5 ft. from leaves. 1000HPS. They look a little spindley on bottom but I just pruned them up to have only four to six terminals. I only introduce microbes (Great White) every two/three weeks and didn't like the results from a light feeding I did three weeks ago.
So I rely on the rich composted manure to give them the nutes they need. I still do water with 1 tsp epsom salts per gallon and the plants seem good.
Any pointers would be appreciated > I'm a poor middle aged gardener who is looking to make a better life. Education and all was great but in the end it was my back that I couldn't depend on..lol

Bought a lot of worm castings on line and man that stuff is beautiful to work with. Fast delivery and great service.
I transplanted my 4" pots of WW into 3gal pots with new soil mix with worm castings, sand, a little more perlite and I had to work about a gallon or more plain tap water to dampen the medium a bit.
Note: My soil mix contains more items than are listed here. For a complete list I'll have to make one up actually.
I used the worm casting mixed new soil to add a 2" top dressing in all the 3 gal pots I already have of BC God. It'll help I know

Here's pix just taken showing week two on 12/12. In the mix is a plant that I flipped on 2/22. It's developing trycombs and I'm starting to see light at the end of the tunnel. Hope you like my grow so far...
