New 400 watt HPS bulb shows green tint and is very noisey

I just bought this 400 watt HPS light bulb, the ballast, and the reflector tonight.... spent 350 on everything and im hoping this noise and color is normal... any advise?

No HPS should be an orange colored light, no green. And my 400 watt HPS makes no noise whatsoever

You should have let it turn on all the way so you could tell if it was alright or not. Go turn it on and let the bulb completely light. If it still has anything but an orange tint to it than you have a bad bulb or something

Its a 400 HPS bulb but its an expensive $65 bulb that has 70%orange and 30%blue spectrum.... hmmm orange and blue makes green dont it.. ill go turn it on now

let it warm up a bit, sometimes they take 2-3 min to warm up turning different colors. Dont do this tho as im not exactly sure of the problem and do not want your house to burn down

Well.. it was nosiey like something clattering when i first started it up and now its not noisey anymore... i turned green.. like pot green.. and then it turned clear like a regular light bulb... and now its orange... so maybe its just natural for it to do this but ill call the hydro shop i bought it at tomorrow

I have it hooked up to a HEAVY duty power strip so hopefully my place wont burn down.. if so then the neighbors are goin to get high lol
