LOL, I've been shopping for an orchid for my daughter in law for Mother's Day. So far I've purchased three for me and I'm not done looking. I got 2 phals and a blc.

One of the phals, she's a micro.

Someone was selling an orchid on Guam when we were at an outdoor market and it smelled delicious, beautiful purple flowers also. Don't remember the type.

They do have some lovely fragrances. I mostly noticed that in the cattleyas. The brassolaeliocattleya I ordered is supposed to have a lemon fragrance. Looking forward to it.

That's quite a hybrid! Other than phals I've only had miltoniopsis which bloomed a couple of times but struggled to have healthy foliage.

3 of mine are mostly through flowering and 2 are recovering from a little too much sun back in March. I bought some pots online for my blumat deck scheme and they turned out too small for that so they are now orchid liners with hydroton to make them fit.20220501_094805.jpg

I get my pots and substrate from repotme.com before that I just used net pots and Hydroton from my NFT grow. Then from my local grow shop LOL now I'm so lazy I order off the net!

Your orchids look healthy. Have you ever thought about mounting them? I've considered it but it just seemed like more work and my Kitchen greenhouse window is sufficient with a little LED.

My watering habit is to take each one to the kitchen sink and run water through the medium and I feed every few weeks with espoma orchid bloom booster. I also move them around the house depending on season and proximity to radiators.

Whiskey Pineapple Chicken

Ingredients:

  • ¾ cup Jack Daniels honey whiskey
  • ¾ cup pineapple juice
  • ½ cup BBQ sauce
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • 4 chicken thighs
Instructions:
Whisk together whiskey, pineapple juice, BBQ sauce, garlic, Worcestershire sauce and pepper. Pour over chicken and let marinate for 48 hours in the refrigerator turning occasionally.

We used to have a breakfast place near us, that's now long gone.
This was the "Lenny's Feedbag" fathfully recreated, my favorite combo to order.
His side servings and toppings were what everyone came there for.

Oh my lord blueberries and beans on the same plate.
I can honestly say I’ve never seen that.
I can honestly say I don’t ever want to see it again either.
Then again, it could be genius.
Now I gotta try it.
Thanks.

I made some Back Bacon. What's called Canadian Bacon here in the states. It turned out really good and I don't know why I haven't already been making it. It's really easy and pork loins are extremely inexpensive. It's not the same as bacon made from pork bellies as it's more like ham but it's really good so I'll be making it often from now on.

The only problem is the lady likes Canadian Bacon and Pineapple pizza so now I have to make that disgrace to pizza for dinner tonight.

I've been busy with the smoker as I bought another chuck roll and after breaking it down into the cuts I wanted and making 8 lbs of ground beef I had enough to use with the pork trimmings I've been saving to make some sausage. I also made a batch of beef jerky.

It takes some time and work but the end result is worth it and I know exactly what's in it. I don't eat any commercial processed meat products anymore. I make them myself. The only exception is an occasional Nathan's or Hebrew National hot dog but my next meat endeavor is going to be making my own all beef hot dogs. My plan is to have some made for the Fourth of July.
