New Ballast / Ignitor Humming Issues...

Hi all, I just got this light set up:

Set it up, all good, light works but the ignitor is making a low-mid level humm... I haven't got much experience with light systems and wondered if this is normal, I have made sure the bulb is screwed in right etc... I don't wanna have to send back to shop if this is the norm, any help would be much appreciated... cool

Well I have different gear(maxibright megalight 400w) and my ignitor isnt separated from the rest but the unit does make a quiet buzz, inaudible from few feet away. Id say it is normal with magnetic ballasts

Yeah, from a few feet away it isn't so audible, you can still hear it outside the tent (SJ120DR MK2), i guess it is quite a powerful light tho, it's got a guarantee so if it blows it's covered...

Ya, most ballasts make noise, even the ballasts in the cheap floro tube fixtures make a little hum, if you walk into any big shop with lots of em youll always here a slight buzz, it's fine man, good luck on yer new setup!

that actually looks like a really good idea, this design is better for the ignitor, hum is normal

The hum is likely coming from the plates in the coil vibrating IMHO

magneytic ballast hum digital are suppost to be silent
