New build thread for a stealth grow box...

Hello everyone just wanted to start a build thread for my grow cabinet. Looking for suggestions and anyone who can help with questions i may have. Im still learning here and hope for some good input of what to do next. Ill get picks up once stuff starts showing up. I have the cabinet but just starting to aquire everything else.

Yesterday i purchased a metal cabinet 5x3x1.5 (feet). 4.5 Sq. Ft. of floor space and 22.5 cubic feet of internal volume. It has a shelf in it for a divider to seperate my clone/seed/veg. section from my bloom setion. Today i bought a T5 lamp and bulbs. Its a 2 foot long fixture with 4 bulbs and 2 seperate switches so i can controll which bulbs i wanna run depending on heat.

Will this be a good bulb for clone germ and veg. The self will raise and lower in 2 inch increments as needed to get the light where i want it. Ill keep everyone posted on what comes next if anyone has any suggestions fill free to comment.

So far i've got 200.00 bucks total in my set up ill keep a running total to let everyone know what it cost me.

1. 80.00 Used metal storage cabinet off craigslist.
2. 120.00 New T5 2 foot 4 bulb 6500k flourecent fixture and bulbs.

Im still debating on weather to go 250 or 400HPS. I know lumatek makes a dimmable 400/250 and they also make a 250/175/150 dimmable. which do yall feel would be better for my sized cabinet. Will a 400 be just to hot. Will a 250 be enough light for maximum yields. I would love to get everyones input.

Please please make all the suggestions you wish. Im doing soil for now but moving to hydroponics after a few grows and i get use to controlling temps and get use to nutes and fertilizers and learn a little more about the entire process.


THINGS I NEED...

HPS light still not sure on my best choice.
also i need fans for exhaust and ciculation.
also filters for passive intake and odor scrubbers.
also timers, power strip, mylar, nutes and ferts.
also temp/hydrometer, Ph tester.

Can anyone add to this list for whats NEEDED.

Also anything that would be nice to have.

Thanks ahead of time all input will be greatly apprecieated.

I would go with the 400watter and paint the inside flat white instead of trying to use glue or some other type of chemical adhesive to stick down the mylar. I would also get nice square pots and really pack them in.

Nice thank you. Good advice. my worry is that the heat will become an issue. Not sure how much of a heat difference it would be from a 250 to a 400. I like the square pot idea. was planning on running at minimum of 6 plants figured maybe 8 and at most 10. Right now im running the 2 gallon bag pots they are 8 inches across and its holding up well. Figured in my cabinet i could run 2 deep and 4 across with room to spare. I've got one blueberry plant a buddy cloned for me and ive been playing with it. god it smells great.

Seems to easy to be true. Now i know when raising and lowering this as a solid unit its going to lower the intake which will not be pulling the hottest air when its in the down position. Not worried about that i feel with a box this small a 4 inch fan pulling 160 cfms should empty my cabinet pretty quickly. Not to mention if I get the 400watt lumatek ill have to keep it up from the leaf tops anyways. After the fan i plan on ducting straight up and cutting a hole in the box and venting out the top of the cabinet and if it get my closet to hot then hard pipe it straight up to the attick.

Also does anyone know if this is a good set up odor controll is critical in my situation...


Any ideas or suggestions.

Those tubes are for 6" ducting. One of those with a 6" fan and filter would be fine. Just make sure to put the filter outside so it can help cool the cabinet down (if your only using 1 fan)

I dont understand. Why does it matter where the filter is located. I would rather keep it all in the box.


FILTER----LIGHT HOOD---FAN then flex out the top of the box.

Its stealthy nothing to see here. Why does it matter if the filter is inside or out. the fan should pull or push air either way correct?

Mayby is someone has any pics of there set up that ould help.
