New Closet Grower 400w Soil Grow

HI Everyone,

I am super exited about my new grow. I hope to update this journal every Saturday morning. So I am growing in a closet in a extra bedroom. I received two very sexy clones 2 weeks ago on October 9. Here are some details,

1 400W HPS for flowering (with air-coolable hood)
2 70 HPS for veg (the veg box is a grow box I build of PVC, cardboard, and duct tape)
1 188 CFM inline exhaust fan
2 oscillating fans (1 for flower room, 1 in veg box)

veg box is about 1'x2'
flower room is 2'x5'

Update as of 10/16

Had the clones for a week now. Here's what they look like.

Unsure as to the strain. I was told that one is called XNLT. The other is said to be a indica/afghani hybrid.

Also this is before I began some LST. Next weeks pics will show the beginning of some LST.

At this point I have seen little to no new growth.

So now I have had the plants for two weeks. Here are some new pics with a little bit of LST. Any help or advice with the LST would be great. Thanks

Also, these clones are vegging in my FLOWER room for the time being on a 18/6 cycle. I would like to get some clones off these guys soon. Once I have a couple clones I can get them in my grow box and switch these girls to 12/12 and begin flowering. Can I take clones from these ladies now or should I wait?
Any and all advice could help greatly.

Update 10/24
just finished 36 hour dark period, swapping these guys over to 12/12. went ahead and took 5 clones from the two plants (each about 2 inches). put the other 2 in the flower room under a 400w HPS (about 6 inches from the canopy)

hoping that if my 5 current clones fail i can clip another round from my girls early in flowering. is this OK?

here is my clone setup

heating mat, water and bubbler in the bottom, clones in rockwool, small CFL light couple inches above.

Any help???

Update 10/25

Start of 2nd day of flowering. Immediately noticed a yellowing of some of the top leaves. Wondering what that is. Could it be lack of nutes? I am using MG potting soil with the time released nutes. I am skeptical to add any more nutes ( i dont wanna burn them)

Could it be to close to the light? My 400w HPS with air cooled hood is 6" (was at about 18" during veg) from the tops. I put my hand at canopy level and it feels fine.

Added nutes to 1 gallon of water
-1TSP GH MaxiGrow
-1TSP Liquid Karma
-1 TSP Blossom Builder

Also did a little bit of Topping


Also clones are still loooking great after 48 hours

Yesterday I moved the light off the canopy a couple inches. It was at about 6" and I moved it to about 8-10" inches away. When I looked at the girls tonite much of the yellowing had faded away.

400 watt light should be 18 inches away for the best performance..

At 18 inches youre gettin almost 10000 lumens, any closer is stress

They look nice though.

10the day of flowering. I added some bloom nutes yesterday and today the plants are looking pretty awesome.

Camera on the fritz on new pics.

well, for some reason i can no longer load images on this site. everytime i go to manage attachments it just freezes up and wont let me add pics. sorry guys, but the plants are looking good now 14 days into flowering

What made you decide to put two HPS lights in your veg area instead of using MH lamps for veg and the 400 HPS for flower?

Everything is going fine. Ladies starting to show some good buds.
Any thoughts or comments? Plz post...
How bout some yield guesses for these 2 ladies?
