I was wondering that because youbdontvwant a fan on the buds. What if I drilled more holes in the Barrel?

You probably don't need a lot but you certainly need something. This seems like a lot of work based on how much each can hold but here is how I would probably tackle this.
Do we want fresh air coming in from the top or bottom? I'm not sure, but lets say from the top.
A few 1/4" holes in the top and use a hole saw to cut out a place for small desk fan like this...something that can sit on the bottom and blow out.

Personally, I'm a big fan of these. They can hold a lot of weight and they are pretty cheap. Rigging up something to keep them dark would not be too tough. Lawn waste bags come to mind. You still have air flow that must be addressed but just an idea:

You need some sort of air flow. Or you will be smoking mold.

Actuallly, on plants I've hung whole first, I then have stuck branches similarly in plastic bins whose airflow was minimal (holes by bin handles) for additional pre jar drying. Albeit in a room with controlled humidity and fans running. Worked great actually. So yeah a few holes in the barrels.

I put some 1" holes in the bottom. And popped the lid up with a 1" piece of wood just for vent. Humidity rises. In the theory I have . The barrels are for concealement for space issues and smell. I placed then in a ice fishing shanty.
there was a reason for not typical drying. But. By theory it may even be better. I'm gonna watch the drying phase and see how it works . I'll keep you guys posted.

the lack of air movement/circulation will be an issue and could result in mold....unlikely a few holes will be enough to move the moist air out....also the holes will allow light in which is not desirable.
below is my DIU dry-tent
put the basket part a push cart with a bathroom fan on top
tie up the buds
close doors and cover up
extra black tarp to keep as dark as possible
