Been here and around a while checking out the threads looking for some help/advice/input on a new grow. As usual as time goes by the information overload occurs and and now seem back where i started stoned and confused . This will be my first grow in over 10 yrs the last was a 16 plant hydro grow in my attic, so I have some experience, but this will be my first grow in soil (didn't like the amount of waste and midnight runs to the tip ) and I intend to compost any waste and re veg the plants back into mothers for possibly 4 rotations.
I will have 2 stealth cabinets 71cmHx56cmWx83cmL 1 for mothers and the other one with 2 shealves for cuttings or maybe just one not too sure of the numbers yet . The flowering cabinet wil be a self made cabinet 92cm H x 120cm L x 66cm W the intent is a perpetual sog with cfl's as the main source of light. And here is one of my dilemas do i go for the2x 200w purple self ballasted nlite with 12x 20w shop brought warm white cfls and 3x 2d 55w lights on the walls for some lower light penetration for a total of 805 w covering both the blue spectrum ( so they don't streatch) and the red flowering one or just go for a 600 hps with cooling ??. I was all so thinking about leds purely at the far red spectrum which I have read you can have on outside of the normal 12 -12 maybe 2-3 hrs either side which still allows the plants to think they are in autumn and hence still flower something to do with the flowering hormone being stimulated by that spectrum of light ?? any one with any thoughts on that ?.
I all so wanted to know if anybody out there ever used their waste water from their fish tanks for watering ? I was thinking of dunking the plants once a fortnight in it.
I am thinking of using 2 litre bottles for containers with holes drilled in the bottom for drainage and about 15 cms of soil which I think will be enough for the roots with those bottles i can fit 72 plants in the box if i shrink the pots down to 3.5inch ( 1 litre ) i can get roughly 92 -98 in flowering with 24 finishing at 2 week intervals , but I don't think i am good enough to do that yet.
I will use an silent inline carbon filter and fan with a smaller air intake pipe with a fine filter over it ( to try and keep the nasties out of my chamber ). I will have the lights on at night to try and regulate the temps , hopefully with the fan and the cool air coming in temps wont be a problem and if the temps are right the humidity shouldn't be too much of a problem either I hope.
Basically I am trying to have as little contact with grow shops as possible and use garden centres and be a self suffient as possible with nutes and soil. I intend to compost all trimings and soil left over, will flush the last week of flowering which should help the taste and wash out any salt build ups in the soil . Sorry for the rambling length of this post and any inconsistencies but i am probably just trying to get it all right in my head first and any input from you guys would be greatfully received.
many thanks
P.s intending to grow hashplant and top 44 from seed from marijuana-seeds.nl has anybody any first hand info on the strains and/or the company?
