I started with led bulbs and clamp lights and they worked.
Maybe more important than wattage is color temperature. 5000K is kinda no man’s land- neither blue enough, and of course not red enough.
6000k bulbs are tougher to find but there is a significant difference that our eyes can’t see, but plants need that bluer spectrum. And in flower, you will want 2700k or in that neighborhood. Some makers label their bulbs only warm, daylight, and bright. Avoid those called daylight. And maybe add an infrared bulb a few hours a day in flower but careful of the heat output.
