new grow

cant decide if i should get a 1000 watt light or a 400 watt light i all ready have a 400 watt hps and also i cant decide what to gorw g13 labs blue venom or green houses seeds great white shark dont know which one would yield more and be more potent any one have any info and any ideas on what i should do

If you want 40% of the weed, go the 400w lamp. If you want the best yield go 1000w lamp. What to grow depends not on the light, but of the conditions in which you grow..

Well people around here love to help people, but you really gotta help us help you. You didnt give us much info on your plans.

What size room is this in? How are the temps? Good ventilation? 100w light is a lot, you really need to be able to control the temps and airflow.

As for the seeds, I dont know of either personally. Ive seen them on the seed sites but havnt seen any of the grows around here. There are tons of strain reviews here on the forums, there is even a section just for that.

Have you considered a 600w light?
Green house definetly has agood reputation for killer strains. I have never cultivated any personally. Like the other guys said it really depends on your conditions and techniques as to how much you will yield. I had great luck with shiva skunk from sensi seeds. Really thick sticky buds, soda can sized.

well as far as room specs go 3x5 and ventilation i got a fan for my first light and am going to get a second fan for the second light and i keep the temps good but i live in san francisco and its winter here so dont really have to worry about temps only for the two weeks out of the summer it gets hot and as far as pots go i use 4.9 gallon pots and the reason i was thinking about a second 400 watt light was the temps and the fact that i can put them closer to the plants also where as a 1000 watt would get hot and would have to be far form the plants also i was going to veg for two months and then flower

Veg for two months then flower? You'll have the plants so tall that you just get thin wispy weed. You shouldnt veg for more than 2 weeks under a 400w when flowering under the 400w. STick 9 plants under the light and veg two weeks you'll be fine and that'll basically max out your yield in that environment.

well i really only grow indicas so what if i veg for a month and then flower i am trying to get the most out of my set up so thats why i thought if i got another 400 watt system i would get more yield
so i would have two 400 watt lights at about 3 and a half feet away from the plants

3.5 feet away?? no no thats too far away bro i keep my 1000w clsoer than that man.. i live in the bay area too and like you said if it dont get hold then heat is not an issue and a 400w light dnt put out that much heat if your trying to warm the room in the winter....Go with a 600w and add your 400wat too it and have a 1000w set up....or just get a 1000w light too if you can afford the power....

And the other is right if you veg for 2 months with a 400w it will not yield well not enough penetration like she said..

The bulbs you buy are down to amount of plants, room size, e.t.c but I would say grow haze as they are an easy strain. And yeild is high on most strains

sounds like a plan get it going man two 400w bulbs will give you plenty to be proud of dont get wrong...........Im just bias as is most people about what they like and how they like to do it . The thing i would ask you and everyone else to consider is All the money and time/effert put into these grows, you want the means to justify the end results. Right??...... EXAMPLE- My mom first started with idea that she wanted to invest as little as possible with best possible results with what she would be working with and i GET IT i understand that. cheapest set-up bare bones cfl lights and no inline fan, no reflecters even for her cfls...she did that for awhile then moved to 400w non-aircooled set up but was too hot so then she got it aircooled but was STILL not happy with the 400w preformance. After 2 YEARS she realized all the nutes,clones, soiless mixes, Hood/bulds/ballasts upgrades.etc she had spent SO much money and was still not happy .....At this point we totaly tour down and re-did her grow from top to bottom i designed it myself , dedicated 6" aircooled 600w Digital dimmiable hps in tandum with 400w MH(re-used her 400w to save money).. 4"fan solely for scubbing/exhasuting old air and passivly bringing in fresh air through the hepa filter. Installed 5,000 btu window AC unit cut into wall with built in thermastat and low energry mode. All lights and fans are on there own timers/sensers .Also instald two self releasing Chemical fire extengishers above set to go off at 150F. Each one is rated exactly for her sq Ft of area so i DOUBLED- up on them thats how we do it bro better safe then sorry... She does 9 3gallon Smartpots in a 4x4 space just like i do with 10OOw's combined light 600w HPS and 400w MH for that potency baby........... She has no Complaints now. LOL
If she had just done ALL that from the very begining or atleast from when she upgraded to HID lightling she would have saved herself alot of TIME i mean time for me is the biggist factor it takes months to get your finished protect...

I saved 1500 bucks before i started purchasing my stuff...and the WHOLE time i was saving i was just soaking it all in... the possible things i could buy finding reviews about the possible thingss i could buy trying to find the best deals on the BEST stuff not just the best deals because you can find great deals on crap all day on ebay and what not.. I wanted to make sure that after my fist grow i didnt say "man i should have just bought a 1000w or a 600w its was only 75bucks more" shit i spent more then that on just my root accelerater for dang sank why would i skimp on a the ballast and light? I spend more on clones and nutes then i did on my intinal purchase of alot of the equipment .....gotta figure if you buy the best and badest(badest means good) stuff now it will pay for itself in the very first harvest if you do it right and every harvest after that you will be thankful that you didnt cheap out in the begining because once its payed for its like "FREE MONEY MAN"....ever sale a car or somthing then have a big wad of cash in your hand and have to turn around and buy anothr car with it or pay a bill/DUI lol?? It really sucks kinda like you never had it in the first place.........

i have decidedto go with the 1000 watt system so i am going to use my 400 watt to veg for a month and a half and then flower with the 1000 watt light how far should the light be from the plants for thw 1000 watt light and how do i measure it form the top of the flower pots to the bottom of the light or form the bottom of the light to the floor

With that set up and proper care it will blow your 400w yeild out the water ...think you made a good choice.....You measure from the light source to the top of the canopy....The distance varies based on first most importatly HEAT how close can you get it with out it being too hot or counter productive for the plant is what you want.....Now if heat is not an issue and you have that taken care of then it becomes a coverage issue you want to be close as possible but at same time you want to proved i good even covarge over your canopy so that has alot to do with what kina hood you have some are better for cooling the light some are better for distributing light over a larger area but with less concentration and some are better at directing it all down in more concentraction......Me i like the last kinda hood kinda. the kind that beams the light downward in good concentration and has both flange holes in line with each other to help the are pass across the bulb. thats why i like daystar because the inside has a tube like shape to help the air flow through the hood which is more like a cool tube but provides AWSOME beam like downward reflection..... But the main thing is it must be aircooled if you plan on getting it close to the canopy and since you have a big HOT light and you need big powerful fan......and yes some will say a 6" will work and it probably will but like i sad before rather get the 8" and know it will work and if its too much you can buy a cheap RPM reducer and run the fan at any spead you want(which by the way you should have anyways) I run my 8" fan at FULL speed when the light is on and i run the fan at 25% speed when the light is off.....i keep 4 osilating fans running 24/7 in a 4x4 space its like a wind storm in there and i think that is why my lady's " got some much junk in there trunk" yes sir there " thick bottom girls" if you know what i mean

oh yeah i can dig it folks well i have the daystar ac with 6 inch flange so all i need to get is the bulb and ballast got the fan all ready i was thinking if i get the plants to 2 feet and flower them and keep the 1000 watt 3 feet away from the top of them that should be fine the way i look at it they will finish at 3 or 4 feet by the way what part of the bay you form where i made the mistake was keeping the 400 watt system like 3 feet from the top of the plants this last grow so the coals got nice but the rest was popcorn size nugs but iam finishing up four clones and i drop t the 400 watt light 2 feet from the top of the plants so we will see how that go s

raised in vallejo live in vacaville now work at a local vallejo Cannibas dispensary......If the heat is controll i would shoot for around 2.5 feet or even less

thats cool my friend lived in vacaville with his lady but yeah 2.5 feet from the top of the plant right how big should i want the plants to finish out at 3 or 4 feet tall i want a good cupel of zips so the upgrade will pay for its self man your lucky to work at a dispensary my bjj teacher works at one but its hard to get a job at the cannabis club here in san francisco you have to know people

Ya you pretty much got to konw someone to get a job at one or be a hudge security gaurd or be a hot chick that seems to be what i noticed.. I fall into the "know somene" catagory

yeah oh well what i want to is just grow and perfect that to me i rather grow my own and for my dad then ever pay for it again plus my dad spends so much money on going to the dispensary that i told him we might as well grow itour selfs
