New grower. A few questions about the set up.

So I finally took the plunge and bought a grow tent set up. Here's the one I bought.

A few differences though. I have the Secret Jardin DS60 tent (2x2x5) and a bigger carbon filter.

While setting it up I realized the filter maybe to big to have directly attached to the 4 inch inline fan and I may have to run the fan on the outside of the tent with ducting. But I was trying to avoid the big silver ducting running from top of the tent to floor (trying to be discreet). And was told if I ran the ducting inside to bottom opening it may not have enough pressure. So here are my questions.

1. Should I buy a different fan like the Phresh hyper fan 6 inch and just place it in the top opening (still pretty discreet with speed control)

2. The light it came with is 150 watt hps with a reflector is that enough or should I upgrade this.

3. How many plants can I place in here. Can I do 4 or is that too many.

4. Realistically what kind of yield can I expect from this. My two starting strains will be
Pineapple Chunk
White Castle

Additional info: I've decided on using Mills nutrients system but I haven't picked an organic soil yet. Any suggestions here?

1. Yes, i have a 6" hyper fan and with speed control, you can run it lower than full power with that setup. If you place a1'x1' peice of semi rigid plastic or 1/4 plywood with a hole cutout, it mounts better than relying on the pull cords from your tent to hold the fan.
2. I have used a 150w hps, expect ~3 oz. Leds would do you better, #1 cobs, #2 area51 leds #3 onyx bloom. A 400w hps would work if you can control the heat, i used one in a 2x3, 3 plants, ~7zips when i was a nube
3. 1 or 2 plants, 4 if you keep em real small.
4. If thats barneys farm....i would rather grow bag seed. Realistically 1-5oz

So I just ordered the CLW Solar Flare 220 bloomboom and will be using the included 150ww hps for veg. Will also be getting a 6 inch hyper fan this Friday.

Also decided on using DNA ultimate soil with cork by Mills and DNA Genetics (have to wait till my hydrp store gets some in).

Also I plan to switch from the given pots to two 5 gallon smart pots. (Is this a smart move). I will be starting seed in pods though and then transfer to 5 gallon pot.

So what do you guys and gals think? I'm I squared away?

COB = Chips On Board. This refers to a type of LED panel that consists of multiple diodes packaged together as one module in the form of a semi conductor chip directly mounted to a PCB ( printed circuit board). This results in a more compact panel. They more efficiently dissipate heat due to the smaller board space. The individual diodes are also able to be driven at a wattage lower than full capacity which saves energy while still providing a higher power density and more uniform spectral distribution.

The image shows the difference between classic LED panels and the COB panels. The 2 outside panels are 400 watt COB (true wattage I believe is somewhere around 180) and the inside are 2 advanced platinum p150 on the full bloom setting (true wattage at approximately 90).

Notice the difference in size as well as the uniform color provided by the COB modules even though both are full spectrum. However, a spectrometer shows the COB to be slightly more intensive on the red spectra (wavelengths ~ 600nm-700nm) and the advanced platinum to be a slightly more even intensity full spectrum panel.

The FLIR images are focused on each panel's vents. Even though the COB is pulling a decently higher wattage than the p150, the COB is only 4 degrees (F) hotter showing how the COB design is able to dissipate heat more efficiently.

Smart pots are nice depending on whether you plan on hand watering or setting up an automatic irrigation system. You will have to water more often with smart pots and a day or two of laziness could leave you with a dead plant. I use coco/perlite so im not sure if the soil you're using would be as prone to quickly drying up, but I lost some plants when I first switched to fabric pots before i got auto irrigation set up.

Also make sure to stay on top of training for height, that light can still fry your girls even though it shouldn't get too hot. LED's are deceiving and can still do damage without alot of heat. Make sure to keep the panel a good 18-24 inches away at the least or risk your yield from scorched top colas.

I would be hand watering but it's two people managing the grow so hopefully that won't happen. Auto irrigation is something I may look into for a future grows but I'm just ready to get started lol. They also have a Coco mix with cork but I thought I'd try try the soil first.

Also thanks for the detailed explanation of cob's I'll definitely have to look more into that for future purchases.
