New grower LED light questions.

diyleduk sells heat sinks, though they may be better suited to Samsung strips.

You would be better running more EB gen 3 or cree J series on aluminium U profile.
You can get that cheap from aluminium warehouse in UK.

If you run more strips you will power them softer and wont need expensive heat sinks.
With the price of EBs or cree J series its worth doing.
Maybe look at @diggs99 build.

I like the cutter.au J series because they are 48v and I think you can run them at 50w on just U profile but the negative is they are from Aus , they used to have a great price break for quantity, they don't seem to have that anymore but it might be worth asking mark. Depends on how big of a light your building.

Aluminium warehouse will also cut your lengths for very little

Would 8 EB GEN 3 be enough for a 4x4 to flower?

Not entirely sure man I don't know how to work out the Watts of each strip

Its voltage X current equals watts.

You just have to take into account the voltage changes as current goes up, usually you can see it on the datasheet or guestimate it from the info they give if they don't provide an accurate graph.

Do you think this would be enough for the f seris ?

No he can do me 1200mm. Waiting on price under 100 for 4 he thinks

Im not good on the heatsink spiel , but a quick estimate of the heatsink surface area would say those have more surface than the heatsink usa profile recommended by ledgardener.

Should work, I would ask the heatsink guys opinion too though.

I’m using the J series from Cutter, 8 strips per fixture running bout 300w. I mixed 4 strips of 3000k 90cri and 4 strips 5000k 80cri with heatsinks from Heatsink USA, Mean Well 320h-48a and I’m impressed on how they’re performing and plants are definitely looking better since I started using my lights. I built 4 fixtures at 2ft x 4ft and all said and done, after buying strips, heatsinks, thermal tape, 80/20 extrusion, hardware, wire, wagos etc, I paid roughly $300 a light and I guarantee they’re better than any light u can buy for $300 , at least I think so lol

I decided on timber cobs, 3vl for a 2x4 tent. I am total newb, but I don't see any other light doing better really. 30 bucks higher electric bill per month to run 24 hrs.
