new grower looking for feedback

Hey all,

i'm a first time grower and poster. I have done quite a bit of reading on growing and followed many posts.

here is my basic set up info

My grow room in basmt. is 6' X 8' partitioned in veg/flower
I am using a 600 watt dimable ballast with a open wing reflector
I have a 4 2 foot T5 bulb set in my veg room
I have a 6" centrif. fan that pulls 480 cfm with filter(not currently attached)
I have both a humidifier and a dehumidifier as needed.

My basic grow info

seeds all germed on 4/12
Blueberry-feminized-5
carmelicous-6
free mystery seeds from bank-8(only 7 germed)

1.my current 16 seedlings as of 4/19

Ive got lots of questions but to start I am wondering how my growth rate looks.
I feel they are healthy and not stretched and pretty bushy for babies, but am not sure about height.
They are about 4 in and as i said they are 17 days old.

Any thoughts?

check your root ball, looks like it is likely time to transplant

thanks faldikar for responding not much input for a newbie so far.

i think im doing something wrong if its time to transplant since i just transplanted to these 5' pot 8 days ago. should i go to 3-5 gal nursery pots right from seedlings. I did notice that when I tried to do a ph test and took soil from these pots i was destroying roots. i'm obviously doing something wrong.my plan was germ in starter pot--go to 5in for 3-4 weeks and then to 3-5 gal nursery pots. also do you think I am growing to many plants for 600 watts in a 5'X6' space I'm guessing after killing boys I will have about 9-11 girls.

how do the plants look--my first

Not much response , but I also have a heat question/problem. The temp in my room overall is about 72, but at the top of my plants it is about 82. I think I need to go with an enclosed hoods so I can keep my light near my plants. I am currently about 24 ins. above and would like to go closer. is the $100.00 investment worth it? Another possibility is to invest $250 in 600 watt enclosed sysrem and move my current light to my veg room and run at 200 watts and then be able to move both back to flowering room at peak flowering. Any thoughts???

Looks great!! How are you maintaing temp's with no ac? Don't move the light's your allready too close.Put light's in top and let the ladie's grow into their space. Believe me it will do better. 3 deadly sin's.... over fertilization....over light.....over water..... It's a weed it's used to fighting for everything! You just help a little and the reward's are incredible..you are exactly on track learn all that you can watch the plant and enjoy your grow my man! THEY ARE PERFECT!! Smile!

they are lookin great, your temps are fine, just let them girls do their thing. make sure to let the top two inch of soil dry out before watering . looks like youre doing an awesome job

Thanks for the responses sandie and faldikar. I have a 6"fan pulling air out and off my open hood, but when I hook up my filter i won't be able to pull from the open hood so i think i will get an enclosed hood or cooltube.
is a 500cfm fan enough to pull from a carbon filter and thru a tube? I really don't like to run the fan at 100% because of the noise, but at more like 75%.

Do I have too many plants (16 total males and females currently) for a 600 light?

will you be trying to make seeds, if not you may want to chop the boys
the fan should do well. what type of filter will you be using

ya I will kill the boys but if my fems don't herm and the rest are 50/50 i will still have 10-11 girls under a 600. Too many? i have a 6"carbon filter that i'm not hooking in until odor is a prob.

looking good! I would keep em small, 10-11 is gonna look like a jungle

Thanks for the input--maybe i will only keep the best growers or get rid of some of my free "mystery" plants.

yep youll have quite a jungle, but you can always keep them in smaller pots and lst. or keep a couple as mothers

believe me when the time comes your going to improvise and make the room for those girls

Earlier faldikar suggested I check my root ball and possible repot. I pulled one of my mystery plants and took a look, but don't know what to think. should i do final transplant to my 4 gal. pots or wait? pic attached

Lucky for you I keep extensive notes and grow dozens of varieties. I have grown the G13 BG from seed and as a re-grow in the past.
I also have one feminized Blueberry Gum going now that is a few weeks older than yours.

I keep growth charts on all my grows where I measure the height and number of days the plant has been in dirt. Yours were germ'd
on 4-12 so I'm assuming the seedlings were in dirt three days later. This is the growth rate of the BG I presently got going:

3-3 *put into baggie to germinate
3-6 *sprouted seedling goes into solo cup @ 18/6 lights
3-20 3 1/2 inches *transplant from solo cup to 3-gal. pot
3-27 5.0 inches
4-1 6.0 "
4-8 8.5 "
4-12 11.0 "
4-14 12.5 " *move from 400W @ 18/6 to 1000W @ 12/12.

That plant is now 24.0 onches and just starting to bud in my flowering room. I grow 'em fast and hot with a big light
and hot nutes. Expect your numbers to be slightly less. Enjoy the finished product!

great info my rates seem similar--great to know. I think i will move to the 4 gal pots in a few days after i try to bring my current ph down a touch.i am running about 7.5, though I don't trust my meter that much
