so you are both on the same page as far as rotating water and nutes. one takes the water less but more often route while the other one waters more but less often. While the plants are as small as they are I have been going the route of water with less but more often so as not to just be pouring nutes away. In my eyes, if you completely soak all the coco in a 2 gallon pot while there is just a seedling in there, you are wasting a good portion of nutrients. now, as they get bigger and grow an established rootball that takes up the whole pot, then I understand wetting all of the coco. now, I am not mixing up one cup at a time. I mixed up a gallon of nutrients and am pouring that one cup at a time just around the seedling so it's not wasteful. Am i wrong in my thinking on this?

If you dribble in the Nutes, your going to get build up. Watering well helps stop the burning of the roots.

Ever hear there's more than one way to skin a cat... Both methods will work. I believe jipsy is under the impression that I only use nutes every water. He probably read over quickly and missed where I mentioned how I water.

so, last night I went ahead and watered until there was quite a bit of runoff. used between .25 and .5 gallon per pot. it was RO water that measured 6ppm. The runoff measured about 330ppm I think. So, that tells me that there were quite a bit of nutrients hanging out in the coco, correct?

The 2 on the left are the Romberry. The runt has started growing but it has burnt tips. The bottom left has some light yellow spots on the leaves but they are very faint. The 2 on the right are Blueberry Gorilla Bubble and look great. their 3rd set of real leaves started coming in last night. I put the seeds in paper towels on 9/15 so tomorrow will be 2 weeks since I started the seeds. I am happy with the progress so far and am really looking forward to the future with these little fellas. hopefully I got some females. lol

Don't worry too much about run off now. The tread I listed above is about issues that came from incompleat watering. Be sure to put some Cal/Mag in your plain watering. 2ml per gallon should be enough for now.

so, this weekend, I am hoping to put the cabinet together and get these guys ready to move out to the barn.
I think i have decided on the Viparspectra 300w. There are a couple reasons. heat output is low. size is good. COST. People that have actually used them seem to have been pretty happy with them.
if anybody has another suggestion for lights, I am all ears, AS LONG AS IT IS AROUND THE SAME PRICE POINT AS THIS ONE. I don't need to hear that they are cheap Chinese inefficient crap. i get it. There are better options. This is a temporary solution to get me through a grow or 2.

everything is making progress. I know I need some better lights to speed things up. I'm working on that. The runt has really showed some improvement but I have a feeling it will always look like a little bitch compared to the other 3. I started working on the cabinet this weekend and my kids were inside playing board and video games all day. well, all day until I decided to start making over the cabinet and then wouldn't ya know, they all come outside to play right by the barn of all places. lol. we have 5 acres and they decide to play in the 100 square feet I'm trying to quietly work in. hahaha. oh well, not gonna complain about them getting outside time. :)

oh man, the Blueberry Gorilla Bubble is already starting to smell. Both of them smell pretty strong up close. The Romberry has no smell as of yet.

Let's talk smell. I know. carbon filter and inline fan. Last night when I picked up the pot and put my nose close to the plant, I could smell them pretty strong. No big deal. This morning, I head into the bathroom and boom, as soon as I open the door, I'm hit with the smell. Now, I have no idea what my budget is for this. I do know however, that it has to work. The cabinet that I will be in is about 25 inch by 18 inch by 60 inch tall. Give or take. I also know, that I would like to keep it as inexpensive as possible since this is my first grow and I am trying to prove to the wife that it will pay for itself. But, if necessary, I will pay a touch more for something that is known to work. Is there a certain brand or size that I need to look for to solve the smell problem.? Thanks in advance.

I think I will go with a 6" just so I have the option to use the controller a bit more. Does your setup eliminate 100% of the smell outside of the grow area? How noisy would you say that it is?

It will just be 3 weeks on Friday from when i put the seeds into the paper towels. Is it normal for them to start stinking this early? I hope that's a good sign for what's coming in the future. :)

How will you be setting up your fan and filter? Recycling in the room or vented out? By causing negative pressure in the room, you eliminate all the smell for your little setup.
