new grower seeking advice (photos)

You look like you've figured yourself out ned. This is the size I would normally just pinch the very tip top off to create 2 colas or more. You don't have to take a big chunk, just the very freshest growth. (If you want to, it can add a couple days to a week to veg time, but you can still switch to 12/12 whenever you want.)

I think your earlier uncertain problem was underwatering, but you figured that out.

Looking good!! If you are not planning on growing them more than three feet tall I'd get the 400w. If you want taller than that I would go with the 600w since it is stronger and has deeper leaf penetration.

nice timing, i had pinched 1 of em for experimenting 2 days ago ! but i'm not liking nothing came out , like not even a tiny thing, i hope i didnt do it wrong, but it was the very top growth

its been the watering that was causing all the trouble, there r 2 levels to the root ball now, the core one consists of that supposedly awesome soil that i got ! it compacts unbelievably and its almost impossible to get wet , when i wet it it reacts exactly as when a droplet of water hits the sand, its encapsulated and never goes beyond the surface, in the pot all the water goes through the sides and it is then that it gets to the proximities of the outer root ball where the roots get their water from ! big big mistake not to mix with pearlite !

i'm also thinkin that my plants get thirsty extremely fast because of 3 more reasons:
1-humidity, its so low, even bananas shrink in 3 days !!! in the US when i hang a wet towel in my room its takes ages to dry, here a soaked wet pair of jeans gets dry in NO TIME !

2- the water that gets absorbed from the outer core of the root ball has a hard time traveling through the very dry area of the inner root ball , a true noob mistake

3- and finally they are under a wide a/c opening that blows on them 24/7


on a brighter note i finally got my 400w hps, i got it at a crazy awesome price too bulb, ballast, socket, wires etc for ........ 33 dollars !!! i still cant believe , i bought it from a wholesaler who charged me a wholesale price for a single unit, that was nice of him,

i also got a reflector online from a crooky website called magiplant.net (turkish) now that wasnt such a nice price i payed for a crappy reflector (really basic and crappy),and a kilog of powdered dolomite, shipping+on location payment, more than i payed for the other stuff !

8/9 more days of veggin and onto 12/12

Looking good. I think your pinch will work. The two sides will start growing up from where you pinched. And, if your lucky, you will get more tops. If you were able to veg longer you could then pinch the tops that come up from that one to make them double again, depending on how tall you grow them. (For future knowledge)

You can put them under the HPS if you have it already, the light spectrum doesn't matter too much, its mostly how long the lights are on. You can pump the most out of them in the least amount of time with more light.

Since your humidity is low, if you have a spray bottle, you can spray them with water or a foliar feed as much as you want. I'm also in a low humidity area, and you can probably spritz them as much as you want until they are done, especially if its totally absorbed or evaporated within an hour.

it gets evaporated in under 3 mins !!!

$33!?! wow dude thts a sweet ass price. i thought i got mine for a good deal and tht was $120 for ballast 2 bulbs and reflector. but damn i wudda got a few for 33 beans. i prob wud have a 10,000w set up if they were only $33 bucks lol

yeah, maybe i'll do it with 2 for the next grow, but then im gonna need to dedicate a room just for them !
i tried to get a 600w but no luck anywhere (neighborhood thats full of shops that specialize in that stuff), hell some shop owner even told me that they dont exist looooool!
alos prices here a just weird, i couldnt find a fan that would be cheaper than the refle'k'tor (with a k in turkish )

Not sure why they are hooking. I'm sure someone can tell you.
As for having difficulty absorbing water. You can try to soak the root ball from the bottom. Just stick the whole pot in the bathtub or a bucket full of water and let it soak in until all the soil is wet.

idk my fan leaves claw up right after watering..but recover within an hour..idk what thats from

they might need a transplant..there pretty big for those pots

already did, they started showing pre-flowers too, which sucks coz if i'm not mistaken, out of 4 , 3 are males !!!!! and one didnt show up yet but seems like a boy as well. needless to say i'm very disappointed, good thing I kept 2 extra seedlings on the side during germination, but if those too turn out to be boys then dropping this thing, at least till next September coz i wont be able to grow during summer while i'm traveling

the 4th isnt showing like the others coz thats the 1 i topped, but i think that i can see a staminate.

Great news ! one of the 4 adults turned out to be a girl (pistils on male looking calyx )! with another plant still veggin (topped), there is still a chance for getting a 50/50 sex parity, i'm saving flowering for the one I topped( 4 tops) till a couple of other tiny plants grow some more .

ok, a long due update, first for the few that were following the thread and wondered what happened, well once I realized I had at least 3 males and 1 unknown I kinda got pissed at the whole growing thing and all the sudden all that excitement that u get at the very beginning just washed away in a sec, if i'm do another grow I wont venture out of feminized seeds or clones (right was the guy who told me not to bother with unknown seeds)

back to the grow, so only one made it, it was the one that had the serious eagle claw (which now developed into a mix of that and some heavy leaf curling at the top of the plant). LUCKILY there were 3 tiny seedlings that I kept because I just couldn't kill all those germinated seedlings and out of those 2 turned out to be XY's , they were always lurking at the corner of my grow zone hence them being behind in size and health with this grow's 4 protagonists, of which 2 r still around the female and another topped male plant that looks so nice I just decided to keep it vegging,

so now i only have this lady in day 29 since switch+ 6 weeks egg , and despite being clawed and curled up the buds r rather ok, trichs r forming slowly, also its a freak plant , after 6/7 nodes it started developing 3 leaves per node instead of the regular 2, as if its trying to make up for the 3 unwelcome dudes that came with her, and the annoying lack of branching this turkish bagseed seem to show


about the trichomes: I'd swear they r more concentrated in the areas where sunlight +hps doest hit directly,


here I have these 2 other girls that I plan to flip in 3/4 days , one was topped left , and the other double-topped middle .

can anyone tell what the heck r those those two yellow dildo shaped rods coming out of the top flowers ?

mine are unknown seeds..well i smoked the bud it came from..turned out 50/50 for me..i heard the ratio in nature is like 30/70 in favor of female...idk tho i also heard fem seeds are easier to herm i guess its prob just certain strains..but its lookin good man

guess what dude, I just did an emergency landing !, look at the last pic , turns out the plant hermied like not 2 days ago, I just chopped half the cola, to see if i'tll be potent, (fast drying as i type,nvr mind the taste ) if yes, then the whole thing is coming off in 24h (will try this 24h = extra resin theory), so that i can bloom the other 2 that r waiting
