New Grower, Should i use a bucket or a Long Tray in a Rubbermaid?

Yes im new to these forums and new to growing in general! The title says it all, what is more effective when growing in a 31 gallon rubbermaid container? :leaf:SCROG will be used so i want to know what will be more effective for just one plant where vertical space is precious in this type of grow situation. Either a 3-5 gallon bucket or a long 4-5 inch deep tray that will cover the entire bottom of the setup?
I was wondering on your opinions. thank you

hahaha for personal use really, plus im new, id rather not screw something up on a grand scale. So why a bucket? it being that the rubber maid is longer that is is taller, i figured a pot would be a bad idea, considering the amount of space they consume. plus i was going to make my light sources adjustable. i would still layer the soil as a pot, just length wise?

cuz its taller

the more you grow the better chance you have of getting females typically you'll get 1/3 female

oh i thought you were doing hydro...

but the answer remains the same canna is like a tree the roots grow deep you should just get some airpots if height is a problem they airprune and you won't have to worry about root bound

possible, but i dont plan on stressing the plant what so ever, i will be on the look out the first sign i see i might just clone and try again or something , also what do you mean by air prune ?

if i did get an air pot , what size would i need for 1 plant? would 2 gallons work? i intend on growing a species that is known for growing short , which is the reason i got the 1 rubbermaid.

Just 1 plant? rubbermaid is overkill.
Usually its 1ft=gallon, So a 5 gallon bucket would be perfect.
Your growing a bushy strain so even better it'll have all the room it needs.

OK thanks, thats awesome but , it just seems to me that a 5 gallon air pots size would be in the way?, do they make something more elongated that would utilize the shape of the Tupperware more? so i can attach my scrog fence to my "pot" , so its one whole unit i can remove from my rubbermaid if needed for flushing or something?

hmmm well gotcha, it turns out i have a local hydroponics store that sells everything i need, i was able to browse and found a smart pot, 5 gallon , similar to the air pot, but just made of cloth and actually 3 inches shorter than the original i had.
