New Grower

Hi im new to the forums and just started growing, but i have been reading around. My setup: is 1 germinated seed in a plastic drinking cup. It is planted in good quality potting soil and mixed with a little humus. I have been adding water when needed and keeping soil moist. For light i am using 2, two footlong fluorescent tubes that are very bright and generate a little heat but not much.

QUESTION!!!::::
Germination took 2 days with paper towels and the seed has been planted for 5 days in good moist soil and 16-18+ hours of light a day but the white/green stem has a little green bulb with a brown tip at the end that hasnt grown at all. The seed capsule has already fallen off . Can anyone help me explain what is wrong?

is there a thin film over the cotyledons. if so then get some tweasers and take it off so the coty leaves can open up. be very careful not to damage the plant.

I looks like it just sprouted by the sounds of it... it'll open up relatively quick.. also I would get 1 Cfls bulb instead of that fluro... this would work much more efficently

EDIT: Thank you Very much Darksarcasm420 i removed the this film and exposed 2 small leaflets! Trying to get CFL bulbs as we speak too.
