New. I have questions.

Hi guys just a few questions i cant find 'The best' answer to anywhere else to please help me!! Oh also have minimum spending money so am trying to do this as cheaply as possible, without skimping and therefore affecting the entire investment. (personal use only)
1. Can i use Root riot cubes, are they tried, tested and efficient?
2. Canna Terra professional mix 50L - Good for beginners? i am very good at messing things up so..
3. Relating to question two, I am already planning on purchasing a Ph reader among other things, but; would i have to add to this particular soil (canna prof. mix) in terms of nutrients and Ph balancers etc. and if so what do i add?

1. Sure but you can get by cheaper

2. Sure but again you can get by cheaper

3. I never checked my PH in my life but I do have spring water from the tap.

1. Probably, but why spend money on something you don't really need? Are you going to use these for germination? If so, paper towels are free, I'd use those if I was short on cash.
2. It's probably fine for beginners but again, not absolutely needed. I mean doing a quick search it looks like for about $20 for 50L of soil, which isn't going to last you very long at all. Are you in the US? I only ask cause when I did a search on that soil it came up with different monitory values so I figured you might be in another country which I know it's a little harder to get soil sometimes., but if you are in the US there are many other options for cheaper soil.
3. No. There is no specific pH depending on what soil you get, and really if your growing in soil a pH meter is not needed. A TDS meter might be more helpful but honestly if your short on cash I wouldn't spend money on either of these right now.

The only thing on the list I'd consider spending money on is the soil, and even that I don't think is a good buy, but I know how hard it can to get soil if you live in other countries. Also, soil is a huge part of your grow so you do want to spend the bulk of your money on the soil since that is going to be what feeds the plants (along with nutes if you decide to get any). So really if your short on cash I would recommend doing a little bit more research cause I think you'd be able to find better items that would be cheaper but also suit your needs.

I learned a bit from this dude I'm just paranoid about posting pictures but he just uses Pro-Mix HP no PH testing and Jacks Classic nutrients All Purpose and Bloom Booster. I just use bigger pots and Pro-Mix BX because I can't find the HP. Not sure what he does for germination but I just use seedling pots on a heat mat with the Pro-Mix BX and usually get 100% germination rates.

But unfortunately that dude ain't been around for a minute. I tried all kinds of cannabis specific shit until I talked to that dude and never went back since.

Just a recommendation, but if you want it to be the easiest grow possible, go organic. No pHing, EC meters, and a lot less chance of nutrient issues.

The soil will take great care of your babies, so you can spend more time watching and learning.

Thankyou for the answers :) Am in europe so it is hard, if anyone could just give me an overall good brand of organic soil, i'll get some cheap 100-200w cfl's with atleast 8000 lumens each, a couple fans, cheap grow tent, seeds(planning on gorrillaseeds), and the soil you guys reccomend? just throw stuff at me im here to learn, want to get it right!! im planning on having 3 plants for personal use, as im fed up of constantly buying small amounts. Ive read the plants need abput 10,000 lumens per plant and the bigger the wattage the better (but also more expensive). Again, thankyou :)

CFL's are crap you can get a 400w HPS fairly cheap at least in the USA especially if you plan on paying good money for organic soil. I know their is a UK grower thread around they might have a better idea on good soil but depending on what language's you speak there may be a better forum with local growers that can help. Plus there is always Google translation's just what European countries sell what who the fuck knows? Other than Europeans of course.

I recycle my soil now but I started out just using Fox Farm Ocean Forrest. I think from the limited reading I've done about living in the UK it might not be that easy to get it there. Like bluntmassa1 said I'd definitely hop on that UK growers thread and research/ask questions there cause they would know for sure, obviously. Just fyi lumens mean nothing to plants. Not saying CFL's are worthless, I started growing with CFLs and if it's all you can come by then make the best of what you have, but don't rate the CFL's based on how many lumens, rate it on the wattage. Higher wattage is always better as long as it's not too hot for you space of course.
