new lights at Area 51

Seems to my uneducated eyes that that would have quite a high percentage of blue to it.

Nice, it's on the site. CW + 630 red is the shit...I've ben running it for years.

I find it interesting that they went 50%W/50%R. There usual ratio is great imo...but I guess if they did that with this new light, it would be the closest copy of an apache, that a51 has made yet.

Copy? A51 NEVER was intended to be a copy of Apache Tech.

Just because there's 1:1 ratio of diodes, doesn't mean it's 1:1 light output. It's more like 2:1

I don't understand the "copy" comment. Besides it being kind of rude, is it because they both use red and white LEDs? It can't be anything else, because that's where the similarities end. AT and A51 are not the only ones using red and white. Sure, AT used red and white 1st. But they are not responsible for A51 using red and white. Actually the red and white A51 used/uses is based off of that Evo light, the one with the cool white XPE and red XPE in the long shaped panel. I had one in 2010 and it performed very well, I thought I could improve upon it, and I believe I did.

Housing case sizes are different, the modules are different sizes and LED amount, the A51 uses 6 LEDs per module, AT has 30. The LEDs are different, with different peaks and kelvins, from a different name brand LED. Can't be the lenses, A51 uses 80s and 95s depending on which model, AT's are narrower.

Just observations. You can not deny the similarities between the units and the spectral graphs either of the R2 and the sgs. I have not seen a graph of your new light(no body has that I know of) so I was commenting on the 6200k and 630red it states, which is the base profile for the at120's. And you said you made improvements to already successful concepts and designs(even diy) when the sgs first came out..much of it alluded to AT very clearly, but I apparently you were talking about evo.

Now that your here, what is you plans for the xgs. Been a lot of talk about it, all just speculation and human eyes imo, then with the new sgs coming out...what is the xgs's place in the family? And the new sgs for that matter??

You are actually very close. Within 50mA.

The all white XTE model was never intended to be a replacement for the red and white model, just something to have in addition to.

Personally, I prefer the red and white. My partner prefers the all white.

Looks like the white is running at 800mA and the red at 600mA, am I close? Good to see the XPE red back again.

Wow that light is amazing I will be ordering asap. I am very pleased they released the smaller panel as well.

I don't know about the new light. I personally think anything above 5000k is useless. I don't want any 5700k-6200k. I hope a51 brings back the sgs 160. Or something similar.

Green you had kind of touched on something I was curious about,

why the 1:1 WR? I know it still breaks down to ~100w W, ~50w R I am just curious what that does for our "filler bump" in spectrum... I know the using the CWs lets you fit in a more concentrated Red portion and keep your 15-20% B,

Because reds are overall more efficient? I guess my big question is... do you have a spectral sheet for us? :D

I will say, the Spectrum Switch is what will keep me coming back. Be safe good sir(s)

Hyroot, this IS the SGS lol. Way I see it they are consolidating the amount of whites they "have" to use to keep up the balance in spectrum (red vs blue vs white light)

Emitting the same (more) amount of blue w/ less individual LEDs lets them keep the reds driven efficiently w/ more individual reds?

Idk, maybe I just answered my own q/a, ehhhhrr....

^^^^^^^^ isn't there more lights coming out in a couple months too? well see how it does. From my experience that kelvin rating has poor results so maybe it works with the mono reds, i don't know..

hyroot most people veg with 6500k lights my t5s are 6500k for veg what are you talking about?

After looking at the spd's for the sgs 160. In flower mode its very red heavy on paper. Maybe like scotch said a more balanced spectrum. An over all higher cri in flower mode. Comparing to IG. Might do better with the new spectrum. I think it may need added 660 supplementing. Just a thought.. Won't know til its in use

I have had excellent results vegging with 6500 hot5, but also with ~ 4500K, which helps root development.

Actually the 2 ufos Jeff gave me one is 5000 the other 3500= ~ 4200K. Used in combination, I grew some sweet looking clones

FYI: I seem to have stumbled upon a hot tip- using some Blue Actinic (CW?) during the flush. My tric production has jumped ~ 30-50%

try vegging with 5000k bulbs. Then you will see how shitty 6500k is.

Ditto what? You never used any of their lights so how do you know what works better? Like I said before, you need to grow something before you get your discounted light, they don't give em to non growers. Just sayin
