New Medical Patient

Hello all,

I am new to medical marijuana, so I am looking for help on what to do next since I am originally from a state that does not have medical marijuana. I have received my doctor's recommendation and I have sent it into the state (with a tracking number). The past few days I have been looking at dispensaries and noticed that they can be very pricey compared to other methods. It is because of this that I am interested in a caregiver to grow my plants, but I really have no clue on the process. I am currently trying to relocate near Ann Arbor or Detroit but I am up for any suggestions. Can anyone out there help me? This is my first time posting to this site.

after you travel along in the program you'll see pros and cons to dispensaries vs caregivers.
Other than the satisfaction of growing my own if I could have found quality and cost that I provide to my patients
I may not have spent the small fortune and taken the risk to date of doing so.

google caregiver patient match, michigan medical marijuana, that'll get you started.
Interview like your life depends on it. There are no deals, dont try to make any.
often samples are not provided before registration, you must understand why.
Provide realistic expectations of usage and function of your meds to your provider and
stick to your word. Cover every angle of this relationship and be sure to agree on all expectations of both parties.
If you dont trust your interviewee then dont register them , keep developing trust until comfortable.

No real cg will ask for money up front. All will have proper meds ready when your card arrives. Their prices for the herb should be all the same, and all premium, and all grade a imo. Pass on pesticides/sprays/pest strip weed. Read a grow bible.
those plants are not yours, never were either, dont act as if they are. There is no contract of acceptance or provision, only a verbal agreement and an application to do so.

We are typically good people living a private life. We've been growing for a long time and love to do so. We dont sell to anyone except our five max patients and love to give gifts with each delivery. We dont make much money doing this but we are collectors of fine cannabis genetics and require more than 12 plants to do it. We dont advertise free anything, but often give gifts. We rarely have a patient opening because we keep long term people and interview ours well also.

good luck, be safe

Things to consider when you sign on with a "caregiver"-

You are basically signing your right to posess/grow the plants to someone else, they are no longer your plants.
Therefore, you are placing your medicinal needs in someone else's hands.

Are you going to be able to trust your "caregiver" to consistently have quality medicine for you at a reasonable price?

I would absolutely stay away from "caregivers" that advertise patient openings on Craigslist. These fools are on Craigslist for a reason, a good caregiver doesn't need to seek out patients.
Avoid "caregivers" that promise free meds.
And avoid any and all "dispensaries", you'll get nothing but overpriced garbage

Thank you all!

I am graduating college in a month and I am striving to be able to help patients and people with the medical marijuana movement, so that is why the money is tight. I hope to one day be able to grow my own, but for now, I just don't have the time or funds to be able to do so.

Thank you for the heads up with the dispensaries. I have traveled to Colorado multiple times and it seems that Michigan, due to not being legal, has way higher priced products in their dispensaries. I am glad to not have to rely on the dispensaries here in Michigan!

I dunno, "a good cg doesnt have to advertise".
I've never registered a person that I knew before they found me in a forum like this. I wont register someone I know either.
I've "advertised" in various forums and services with great success. I find matching my services/products with the exact expectations of potential pateints is key. Advertising allows me to lay it all out and avoid the hassle of interviewing those I cant/wont help anyways.

I dont use dispensaries, or visit compassion clubs, or go to cup events or smoke downs. I dont accept a patient referrals from another person/patient, not sure how anyone would even know how awesome my skills have become if I didnt advertise.

I dont use craigslist, but its only as good as its readers, which prolly includes a slice of everyone.

That's what I should've clarified, you "advertised" on marijuana boards, that's probably the most legitimate way to find and help patients in need.

I've read some of your posts and you seem like a compassionate and knowledgeable cg.

We need more cg like you, instead of the fucks just trying to up their plant count and taking advantage of naive and desperate patients

I think you would make a fine caregiver....consider it if not already?

I'm not allowed to posess anyone else's plants, otherwise I would love to help some disabled patients or veterans
in 2008 it was all new in MI and I only wanted to grow my own at first. then for laws realized a perpetual harvest was my answer, amazed at the quality of these cup winners I realized I had to grow all of them, but could only have 12 plants. needed more variety for my quests..... put an ad in a for patients. Nervous, one at a time, very selective, well interviewed, what a great experience still.

Typically I stick with shut ins, disabled, older hippie types, retired patients, because I work well with them. I've never interviewed a patient who told me they had cancer strangely, and only a very small percentage list it as a qualifying condition here. I was surprised at the state stats.

I think the cancer and mm patients, probably has something to do with people not believing how much cannabis can help them, if not cure them. Its not really something many people would take a chance with I guess. If only the doctors would open thier eyes and minds, and stop seeing sick people as a walking, talking bank roll.
