New Member, New Journal & New Grow (1st grow = fail, 2nd grow = comeback?)

Sup RIU

I've been reading around and following some threads to educate myself on this new grow.
I had a first grow that I was doing a Journal on another forum but decided to swap to RIU.

My first grow was a total failure, I had 4 plants that were given to me, I had them veg for around 2 weeks (they had veg for 3 weeks before arriving home) and then killed them with some nutrients (insane burn).

this time I hope to get things right...

Setup: 1 85W CFL, 1 65W CFL & 4 20W CFL = 250W (This are all actual W's, all 6.5K)
Seeds: Bag seeds (if everything goes well with this grow I'm buying seeds for my next grow on Jan 13')
Nutrients: No nuts until flowering.
Temperature: 66*-76*F
Humidity: ~35-50%

11/13 Update = Day 1

Of all the seeds only 4 showed roots by Monday the 12th. So Yesterday I got them out of the paper towels and put them on soil.

Here we got the first one to break the surface! We got a grow now!

PS: Yes I know, that is one small pot, he/she will be there for a week or so.

whats up man i used cfl's for my grow too 200 watts if i remember right haha i failed the first time as well but tasted success on try 2 anyways good luck !

first try really got me on my feet. I haven't used some seeds I purchased in fear of not giving them the proper care. I hope this 2nd try really gets me rolling. Thanks for the positive vibe! I will keep this journal up to date.

11/14 Update = Day 2

Only 1 seed is above ground (see 11/13 update)

Of the other 3 seeds, only 2 made it to the surface but are still thinking of going up! lol

One of my plants from my first, disaster like, grow has shown some new, improved & healthy grow!!!

As of now I got,

1) 1 of the seeds above ground (the first one)
2) 2 plants that are just halfway of breaking into surface
3) 1 Plant from my first grow, she's trying to make the comeback.

Enough text, some pictures...

1) The setup as of right now (I got 2 more lights, they are just waiting for the plants to be strong enough)
2) Plant #1 (The one that we got on 11/13)
3 & 4) Are the plants that haven't get some height (they broke the surface a couple of hours ago)
5) The only plant that survived the out of hand nutrient burn from my first grow. Picture showing new healthy growth.




I'm hoping by the end of the week to have all 4 seedlings above ground and turn on the 85W & the other 20W.

I will start feed when I get about 4-5 nodes. I still have to get the proper nuts for them (not the cheap, soil like nuts that I used on my last grow)

11/17 Update = Day 5

Temp @ 67*F
Humidity: 40%

Of my 4 seeds that give out roots only one made it. Of the other 3, 2 made it to the surface and then dried out, the other one just died after being transplanted. (This was 100% my fault, no moist on their pots = death. Just being busy this last week.)

I have 10 more bagseeds on the paper towel right now. I'm going to give them 72 hours to see how many we got.

thanks fro stopping by! I will keep this post updated at least once a week.Right now I only got 2 plants... the new 1 week old, and the survivor of my last and first grow.

11/19 Update = Day 7 Temp @ 71*F Humidity @ 45%

• First week of Veg for my first plant of this 2nd grow. Got to transplant her in a gallon pot.​
• Also got 12 seeds with root Today (from Saturday to this morning on paper towel).​
• So I moved them to Solo Cups, waiting for them to break the surface now.​
• I'm trying to post pictures but the "Manage Attachments" Tap isn't working... The post is also getting all the text into a random format, no spacing. (Had to use the "list" function)

11/19 Pics

• 1st: New 12 seeds on Solo Cups after 48+ hours of being on paper towels.
• 2nd: Moved to a bigger pot Today, is her first week above ground. (Orange pot = old pot)

11/26 UPDATE = 2 Weeks
Temp: 77*F
Humidity: 45%


She is starting to loose some color on the borders. Why is this?

Yep bro just make sure you start small, it's easy to over due it when its that little.

the problem is that I haven't found some liquid nuts!

I only have some "soil like" nuts. I just took 0,2g of it, pulverize it, and dissolve it w/water. What do you think? lol (yeah, kind of sketchy)


-it's 10-16-20 (I know, it needs a higher N concentration for Veg, but this is what I have!) Nearest Hydro Shop is 4 hours away... (don't even ask...)
