New Nutrient Feed App for Growing - In Development

A friend of mine and I are building an app that simplifies nutrient dosing, feed schedules, and allows you to build a grow journal all from your phone for the most popular nutrient lines. You enter a few criteria and you have your feeding/watering schedule done for your entire grow. It will be aimed at helping new and intermediate hobby growers get started and be successful in producing. It’s also designed to help you track your successes and perfect your feeding recipe for your respective water supply and specific growing conditions.

-For all of you new growers, would this be useful for you?

-Are there any features you would like to see?

-Are there any challenges your having with your grow?

-What medium are you growing in?

-What nutrient line are you feeding and any supplements?

Once we’re done, my goal is to offer a free to folks that will actually be useful.

Why isn't the fertilizer manufacturer's own feeding chart good enough?

How does the app determine when there's enough pisils to go up a column on the chart? Are you copying the manufacturer's own feed charts?

Will this app measure PH or run off? Or will just keep telling people 20%? Saying 5.5 to 6.5?

How does this app deal with faster and slower plants. Same grow, same strain?

I'm assuming every brand of dirt, soil less, coco, rock wool, type of pot, size, and temp range it needs to stay in. Will be listed?

Good luck.

I could imagine it would be useful for new growers, but its hard to give an accurate feed chart for soil when it highly depends on what amendments they are using

-Are there any features you would like to see?

DlI, VPD, inputs and output calculators would be cool
Also could be used to adjust feed strengths?

-Are there any challenges your having with your grow?

Not in particular
Calcium deficiency currently

-What medium are you growing in?

RDWC

I have noticed their reccomended EC has been WAY too low for me

We're initially looking to start out at square one. This means helping new growers to put seeds in either soil or coco and feeding those seeds with the proper water-based nutrients to produce some buds. That's about it. We're not trying to get fancy just yet. We want to help folks rubbing two sticks together in a cave get the fire started before planning the drapes in the mansion bathroom. HA!

The overall goal is to give new growers a baseline of success that they can then start to adjust and augment as they continue to grow.

We assume that runoff is going to be 20% and growers will be PH'd at 5.5 - 6.5 to get started.

The app will allow grower to set up different profiles for each of their strains. So if they have a strain with 8 week vs a 10 week flower they can configure that for each plant.

As far as basic set up, they can select their grow medium, pot size and that will determine watering/feeding schedule. We'll make recommendations for temp ranges and such based on our research.

I suggest adding a few of these common mixes for GH flora series (very popular brand)

Excellent! THis is essentially what we're proposing. Growers set up their initial grow profile, select their nutrient line, and how they would like to see their units of measurement ML/L, TSP/GAL, or ML./GAL for example. Seems like there's different feed units based on the nutrient manufacturers. GH For example does ML/GAL or TSP/Gal where AN Jungle Juice does ML/L. It's ridiculous, so we basically allow the user to select their preferred method of measurement and it converts it across the board. They can also adjust the strength, so we might default the nutrient strength to 50% and let them adjust it up or down based on their PPM and how their plants are reacting to their nutrients. The app tracks the adjustments for the user over time so they can hone in their feed schedule based on their individual water supply.

You're on it. On your sheets you have changed some of the measurements with a pen and augmented some of the recommendations from the MFG. The app would let you make those adjustments as you go, track all of the adjustments, and log the progress of your grow so you could then start to compare your first grow to your second for example.

I think hydroponic dwc/ rdwc would definitely be most accurate for your app since you can assume most people start with clean water (or RO)

So do you think new growers (First through 4th grow) are starting off in Hydro? Or is it more likely they'll be doing DTW?

Also, if soil and dry nutrients are common, we're also willing to look at a build for that too.

Off topic but I just built a CC system that is 20 gal. I notice your chart edits. I currently use advanced Nutrients. Have you had any experience with them? Do you like the cultured solutions? How long have you had your system? Any pointer I should know? I've been thinking about switching nutrients. Thanks for the help

Like this idea. Maybe something with nutrients included in popular mediums? Or including an ability to add the nutrients of the water you use (i.e. well water) ? A deficiency/toxicity section with remedies as well as pest control info? How to's for different grow methods? Some food for thought, good luck with it man.

Think it’s a great idea for new growers. Advanced nutrients already has an app which you set your reservoir size and which products of their line ur using and put in how long u veg for and want to flower for and will give u a week by week breakdown of what to feed. If u done something similar but adding tips like on day 21 of flower a note saying good idea to defoliate and a week or 2 before flower saying super crop now it would certainly help new growers and also u could recommend additives to go with whatever base nutrients are being used and you will prob get sponsored by a nutrient company doen the line abit.
