Thankfully I never had to go stealth but I would tie some flowers. A friend once said Xmas bulbs to look like tomatoes but I think that's dumb.

You sprinkled salt on the surface of the dirt? Yeah adding salt to your soil base is a big no no. Hopefully if its just a lil bit it wont do any damage though.
