if your not doing a huge industrial medical grow quit sweating the shit.. think about it they survive everyday outside with fucked up temps this and that.. what you really need is adequate circulation and something to keep from smelling correct... i do agree with snaps and others on larger more expensive grows.. but if your doing a few come on man no need to get crazy on buying a huge flipping fan with a variac.. and variacs are great.. i use them for my tube amps when not in use for a year or more.. it brings the caps and resistors up slowly.. any how.. look at my video its actually simple quit trying to figure out all this cfm crap.. you wanna spend thousands listen to snaps you wanna get some good buds and actually save money go my way it works perfect.. Plus your in a room not a tent you should be just fine.. do you have existing duct work from home in there take a shot of room for us to see what you got going on.. I suppose I'm lucky i live in cold area i don't ever worry about heat issues plus i only run 400w.. plus i will never go over 4 plants in my state...

I am in Cali so , heat is never really a problem. I want to keep it simple that is why I thought a 6 inch fan will keep it cool enough and a vent in the door will help with air exchange. I would be saving money not having to have an intake fan.

Shoot over a photo of your room I'll help ya plus two 8-10 oscillating g fan. And 4" for vent. If there is no intake at all u will have neg pressure in room. If your room is completely sealed

Run a larger fan on a variac. Reduced fan RPM gets required airflow with much less noise. Can always be turned up to compensate for increased ambient temperatures or bends and restrictions in ductwork.
i am not sure i fully understand what you mean SNapsProv, I am in a position, where i need the air, but cant have the noise, you peaked my interest!

Lets say you need to move 400 cfm. A 6" fan hollering at full speed will be rated in that ballpark (ish)...

Now we take a 10" fan rated for 800 cfm (ish) & we put it on a variac and slow it to 50% (ish) & we have a lower freqeuncy / decibel level and still get our 400 cfm. Also larger duct decreases air velocity thus reducing duct noise.

longer intake and exhaust ducts will also cut fan noise big time.
