I would suggest getting a comversion bulb for that light . Its a mh bulb that burns red like an hps does.

A conversion bulb would help but it would also have less lumens than an actually 400w hps so that one is up to you @Cpip1218. What I would do is finish out this run and see how goes it. I can tell you put some time and effort setting up your grow space and it looks pretty good man. That being said there are some areas for opportunity, things you could work on. Your leaves on the bottom look yellow and a lil crispy and the foliage is kinda pale green. Now that can be due to not having enough light on them when they were young or you're not feeding them enough. I assume you just got the light and were using the cfl's prior?

first that set up is nice and clean and I am not going to repeat what others have already said, so this is a slight off topic. A scrog that size can be filled with 1 plant with no dramas, I hope you keep posting your grow so I can follow. Not that you will not get a good production from that, just thinking of efficiency.

You will not get the bud size with only MH, and that fixture you have is not really suitable for gardening. You are serious about growing it seems, so what I would do is get together $150, go to Amazon and get a 400 MH/HPS dimmable kit. They sell the whole thing, with timer, for that amount. For 2 good bulbs (which are included) you will pay close to $ 60 - 90, so that fixture is a good deal. You will be very happy, and your plants will love you. A couple of CFL's with that set up that you have, are not going to really help a lot, unless you use a few ( like 4 with hoods), then you end up paying for the CFL lamps and hoods (for focused light on the sides), and the added power consumption. That is what I would do, if I could dig up the $ 150 ( .5 oz will pay for it) Good luck

earlier in my for I was trying to go the cheap way w cfls and a reservoir that was thin and leaked light which caused root rot very bad. I transplanted the plabts and their just now starting to get there roots back and recover. I really apreciate the reply and if you have any more tips I'm open

This was my setup for veg and flower

Go to Walmart and get those Mylar space blankets or go to a dollar store and get wrapping paper and line your walls with it. There is wrapping paper that is basically Mylar.

Can you take a shot of your set up with the cfl's off? Everyone suggesting you should loose the cfl's might be wrong because of your hood. It's gonna focus ligh directly underneath it instead of a wide spread, so you just migh need the cfl's when the plants fill up the net.

I understand right now it's about working with what you got.

or get panda film, its rather cheap....well in Australia it is. $7/linear meter and it is 3 meters wide

That's what I've been looking into do you think the 360w conversion bulb and some cfls will harvest 4 plabts pretty good?
Can't really say as I just got the set up that Jimdamick mentioned above on the Zon for $134 including shipping...400 watt MH and HPS/a gull wing reflector and dimmable digital ballast...my first HiD system :-)

The 400w dimmable is the greatest thing that ever happened for small grows. Start your seedlings at 200, move to 300 for veg, and give it all you got with 400 for bloom(switch bulbs). I added 2 to my 1000w, on each side set at 300 for power savings, and increased yield by 20%. At the price they go for, fuck the 1000, use 2-400's, get better spread, and your plants will want to blow you (lol)

The tent I got was originally to up-grade to a 600 watter later on but I got to thinking maybe putting two 400's with a dual cool tube assembly !?

Save your money on the cool tubes. Venting is a pain in the ass (moving fixture height with duct work) Too much lumen reduction with anything under 1000w. I didn't know you were in a tent. I would still go 400 dimmable, as the heat with one fixture should be OK, you can move the fixture close at 300w, which will be more effective than a 600 w cool tube at 3' above canopy, which could cause excessive heat, depending on ambient heat.
