New shoots growing from fan leaf removal, genius or idiot?

Hi all, I recently cut some fan leaves off my outdoor plant. My last plant had some bud rot so I wanted to make sure it had airflow or whatever. I’m aware it was probably unnecessary but I was bored ‍♂.
NOW there’s new shoots growing from where the leaves were cut. It’s acting as if I topped it. I can’t imagine this is normal right? Should I cut these off or have I accidentally created something amazing? I attached a couple of pictures, there’s like 50 of these

That’s normal. Every node on the stalk will have a fan leaf held on with a petiole and there will be an axial limb (shoot) there as well. The shoots got more pronounced and will probably grow a bit faster now that they aren’t shaded. Your plant needs fan leaves to photosynthesize though so don’t chop too many. You can use that to shape your plant to the way you like it too. I generally chop the shoots down low except for a few I want to make into bigger limbs. I let the shoots get bigger when they’re at the end of a limb as there’s more light there and they’ll make more bud. I leave fans on if I can down low and up top.

Good to know! I thought that only happened when you topped plants, whoops.
Appreciate the advice.

No problem; do a search for fim on here. I use topping and fimming on the same plants, just depends on what you want.
