New site :(

To say I am extremely uncomfortable with the new links to the kings of data mining and govt spying google and facebook is an understatement. Why couldn't they just fix the likes? , crashing the server? Get a bigger/ better server, the site was golden as was.. now ... not too fussed on the new look but could get used to it. Definitely will not be getting use to the sign in with google/ facebook part. Even if I don't, anyone who does is sharing MY profile, posts, pictures with any of the numerous brainwashed drones that spend all day on facebook. If someone signs in with google and posts in my thread, google then in theory could be monitoring me also. Not cool.

I am detecting hints of sarcasm. The thing is though, they really are, at least they're trying to, and forums like this should be WAY seperate from facebook. This is just making it easier for them. I won't be posting any more pictures or info.

We all know that people who have facebook have hundreds of contacts , most aren't real friends at all and the only reason they keep each other as contacts is to be nosey. So miss nosey , sees that MrX posted blah on pdc's journal. "OH MY GOSH, THAT PERSON IS GROWING A MARIJUANA, CALL THE POLICE"

you dont think for one second that you and I are not important enough to be watched? Look at what i am watching, porn and social sites, thats it. Anyways I am not liking the new look, but it isnt my site, so roll on.

When i first saw the site i was a little dismayed at the ugliness it is a little jazzy and hurts my eyes
although it is just a skin and can easily be modified/stripped locally and rebuilt using local proxy software making it look less jazzy
the new forum software is actually slightly better than vb so overall its an improvement

if security is your major concern you should accept that this is the responsibility of the users who visit the site
unfortunately that is the harsh reality of the internet
you can take various precautions to make yourself anon if you wish
the site can't do that for you
its a public forum it allows guests and bots

I am not liking the new look of the site either, but it is still a work in progress. I hope it will get better. If you are concerned about the facebook/twitter/google links to this site, perhaps you should look into creating a new account. so your pdc name won't be passed around in social media.

you have to physically log into your personal fb , twitter whatever to get access to the social media aspect. not many people willing to do that here, i can talk admin into removing it, but basically least of our problems at the moment were more focused on squashing out bugs and making the site useable.

we werent just able to fix the likes...
we has to get a whole new server so that riu could work again, which is what everyone wanted so we did it.

I'm not dissing the effort that was put in or anything, I see that the admin etc want to please the members here and that is cool. I'm also kind of assuming that the facebook/google link came packed into the software for the forum so it's not a deliberate attempt to intergrate them. My only major gripe is making rui very public by facebook linking comments etc from members here essentially broadcasting everyones actions on here to thousands of people who are anti weed, and perhaps didnt even realise pot forums existed, next thing you know it's a news story " hundreds of stoners collaborate to create hundreds of American drug farms" . The less brainwashed facebook masses know about places like this the better.. though as you say , maybe not many people will use the option to log in via those..

i think riu is already very well known, we have our own fb page and twitter and have for a long time.

hmm, I dont use any of that so I wouldn't know. Maybe my worries are unfounded.

Its good to be a little paranoid
although the technology does exist you are right
with data mining/hacking it would be easy to track and identify users even many of those that think they are hidden with TOR
but those with the ability to do such things would not use these resources for a few plants

perhaps if you were making BOMBS or ANTHRAX
or planing to kill the president

Yeah, guys you gotta realize that the world is changing and the untraceable, wild-wild-west days of the Internet are nearly gone, if not already. But cannabis is also much more accepted now, and with the precedent of Colorado and Washington, the DEA is going to get demoralized very quickly concerning marijuana. It just isn't going to be on their radar, nor any other law enforcement agency's for that matter. Shit, when you get dirt-cheap, high quality weed supplying the country from massive grows in Colorado, Washington, California and other places where weed is legal or semi-legal, the cartels and drug gangs are going to stop selling it because there won't be any profit in it... And there goes the last possible worry (financing crime syndicates). So just sit back, relax, roll it up, and welcome to a new world where you don't have to be paranoid about internet posts anymore.

I'm not too fond of the new look either, I liked the old , but alas, that's progress, I hope they can clean it up a little, I liked the fact how easy it was to see the date and time of post, maybe it's my brouser (SP) but I find it hard to read, I like to brouse (SP) the "New Post" section, thus the need to know what date and time it was posted.
