New some advise

Hello all new to te site and growing. I want to share my confusion with some seasoned vets, here goes:

Started some generic seed I got from an exceptionally good smoke this past xmas that wasnt exactly prime bud, So I decided to do my 1st grow, threw them out in the sun and Poof got 20 seedlings. Lost a few to my nosey dog and the plants started showing sex by the 4th to 6th week. I pulled like 8 males and I am left with 8 determined females and 3 not showing any sex as yet (i am in about week 7or.

Heres were I am confused:

I hear all u guys saying that plants dont show sex until flowering, I determined sex within the 1st 2 months. Also 4 plants are very fast growing, they stink like primo bud already and are full ofwhite pistils on every set of leaves and the top crop is bushy with pistils and the immediate set of leaves off the crown are all fuzzy like resin will be high. Also when I look underneath the top most pods I see condensation like moisture as if resin is forming already. Is this normal activity of such a young plant? Are the plants being tricked by nature to veg so early due to the fact that we are in the sort day cycles of the year? or do i have some extremely good unknown strand that I can look forward to? I plan to bring them in tis weekend under 250 HD in a 2x3 grow space. Should I not waste my time cause its unknown seeds, or should i move them in a finish the cycle? I figure moving them in I can do 24hr lights wit good nutrients to really get them going?

the reason you hear people say they cannot sex their plants until flowring stage is because most people only veg for between 2-5 weeks.

if you veg longer and the plant feels ready, if you are growing outside and the day cycle is short, or if they are an auto flowering strain - the plants might well go into pre-flower whilst still in veg.

the plants are being tricked into thinking it is flowering period, not veg period - think you know this just made a typo.

some strains start producing resin glands very early - this is not uncommon.

if i were you i would get them in and put under 12/12 for flowering straight away. sounds like they're done flowering.lol.

250w HID will be fine - just watch temps - if too high get a fan, preferably inline.

they sound like good plants to me, keep them going is my advice.

Am I already to late, I am almost sure i got something good. does the early signs of smell and white airs mean that I wont get a good yield? will bringing them in and doing 12/12 keep them veaging?

I really want to get them to perform to te ighest possible quality.

how can they be done flowering when I see new growth coming on the bottom portion of the plant. there is a light close by the plants, should i turn it on at night to stop any potential flowering until i get tem inside?

the plants have already entered preflowering mode, where white hairs, pistils, prorude from the bud sites.

early signs of white hairs and a skunky aroma is a very good dign at this eary stage - means they are a strong strain and plant in itself.

however just because they are in flower does not mean that they have stopped growing. they may well double in size during the flowering peiod.

if they have started to flower it is best to bring them in and put them on to flower now in my opinion. you could bring in and put under a veg cycle, but yu would have to pick off all the bud sites and you will probably do more harm than good.

12/12 for flowering - 18/6 or 24/0 (or somewhere in between) for vegging.

should I take the pretty tops off the three strongest plants to try and clone just in case thes intial plants dont give a high yield but is a good strand of bud?

good idea to clone anyway, that way you have your next crop sorted and vegging while the others are flowering - but you will need another room to veg in.

do not clone from the main colas, or the main stem bud - as this will be your largest and most productive part of the plant, and you will have to veg it for longer to give the plant time to replace the main bud with two new ones, called toping).

take your clones off of one of the lateral branches - and remove any young bud development.

your advise sounds to be exactly on piont with my research but I think I would be ok to take the top most buds because what I see directly underneath the are that same set of suplimentary buds you mention will take time to grow begging for more light. I agree that it probaly will require me to veg a bit longer to but i think the potential growth underneat is worth te wait (after all I am aiming for the best results possible) the growth underneath the primary topping (in my visual opinion) is in a stage where it would exceed what would normally take the extened time to produce nice replacements, i really thinkl I am just lucky enough to have ran upon a good strand, the challenge is making it survive and reach its full potential being that i started outside diuring off season. (as we speak I turned on the ligt close to the plants to try and trick them into a vegging stage, what doyou think?).

you never know my friend - there is certainly nothing written in stone when it comes to growing cannabis, and half the fun is experimentation.lol.
