Here’s the thing. In my experience (albeit not that much. maybe 20 grows), the amazon special LEDs are GREAT for vegging plants. You have MORE than enough power to veg say 8 clones just fine until the day you flip.
Get a smaller tent for your clones (maybe a 2x2) and run the less powerful light in there for vegging your clones. Sell or scrap the other light. Get a real light for the 5x5...
When you flip is when you’ll notice that you don’t have NEARLY enough light for 8 plants in a 5x5... They will probably stretch like crazy and you’ll have to lollipop all the way to the top 1/3 of the plant if you want dense, mature nugs. Chances are your buds will still be all fluffy.
I’m sure you realize you’re probably only pulling 450-500 watts at the wall with both of those lights. Add to it the fact that the spectrum on those lights suck ass for flowering. Not trying to be a jerk, just relaying what I’ve learned...
Do yourself a favor and get 2 HLG 320 xl quantum boards MINIMUM if you are insisting on LEDS... Or maybe a Timber cob set up. Or hell, diy a light with boards and strips. But forget about flowering in a 5x5 with those lights. Build some yourself to save a few bucks. It’s easy. If not, just go for a 1000w Gavita HPS and a really good ventilation set up and you’ll be more than happy with the results. Gotta pay to play.
Or, waste more money and get like 3 more of the “1500 watt” ones. But I’ll tell you this. Those bitches will raise the temps in your tent to like 90-95 degrees. Again, come harvest time, you’ll be wondering what went wrong.
A 5x5 tent, in my opinion, is somewhat of a bigger tent and if you don’t already know all of the above, you should have started with a smaller tent/grow... I say all of this because at the beginning of the LED boom, I made the same damn mistakes... LEDS rock in my opinion. But typically, they aren’t what they’re advertised to be. Start small and go from there
