Hi everyone !

I'm putting together a grow tent kit . 4x4x78" ,1000 watts King plus led light ,One vortex fan 165 cfm 4" with dimmer and a carbon filter , 6" duct fan 240 cfm with dimmer , and an homemade DWC system to hold 4 plants when flowering . I hope White Widow is a good strain for grow tent scroging .
I will be posting as my project progress. Feel free to make suggestion I will take all the help I can to get to grow that plant . I'm presently waiting for all the gizmos to complete the kit . Waiting for : PH pen ,PPM pen ,PH+an- ,three part hydro nutrient ,two oscillating fan ,2 dual out take air pumps and tubes and stones...

Other than my nutrients ,PH+ and PH- ,is there another solution I should have for seed and grow stages ?
And what can I read to help me start ,do you have a link for me ?

Thanks !

Boris

Awesome gear for a first grow man! You're gunna be real happy with the results. I agree with the suggested hydroguard and silica.
I'd suggest a bigger res, a decent size tote will do for homemade. That way you can reduce over crowding by spacing them further apart and not have to change res as often when they are flowering and drinking over a gallon a day. Unless this is ur veg res and you made a bigger one for flower, thats what I do so you can reduce having to deal with so much water when they're barely drinking in veg.

But the reservoir is 20 gallons ,for four plants ,it's not that small ... I think ! The top reservoir is for veg. until I can ID the sex the plant .

i've never been a fan of multi-specimen dwc containers for many reasons*. i suggest that you do 2-3 buckets with one plant each. veg them for four weeks or so, and train them to the appropriate height for your tent. fewer, larger plants usually yield better than many smaller ones in a 4x8 space (in my experience, at least).

my dwc setup uses 10 gallons per plant. using a 20 gallon reservoir for 4 plants seems like it will create a ton of unnecessary work for you, in addition to the problems* inherent in running multiple plants in the same container.

*:issues include, but are not limited to- root zone competition (it is very likely that several specimens will either die or yield negligibly), decreased efficiency of airflow resulting in increased susceptibility to pest infestation and disease, increased difficulty of pruning and training, and increased probability of damaging plants during reservoir maintenance. look around the forums for more information on these and other issues.

I Just ordered the Hydroguard ,Silica ,calmag ... Thanks for the suggestion .

Boris
these will do you well. i recommend starting at 3 mL/gal for the hydroguard. if you start to have problems, up the dose. if you are using tap water and the gh flora series, you may not need calmag. if you do, start that at 2-3 mL/gallon.

i am also curious as to why your intake and exhaust fans are different sizes. i'm no expert in that regard, but it seems to me that the difference in cfm could cause problems.

Thanks for the infos ! As for the fans ,I have the 165cfm and since I when I was about to order a second one ,(the price is 104$ each ) one , I saw that 6" duct fan 240cfm at half the price ... So with each fan its own dimmwer switch I can adjust .

That is quite large, I was basing the size off of thinking your tent was same as mine and assuming size compared to tent, but i'm in a 3x3 and you're in a 4x4. That should be good!

I thought about what you said and I will go with 4x 12 gallon DWC containers instead ... Just a question here ... Is that drain level tube absolutely neccessary ? I mean ,I could have a small 80 gph submersible pump into the container and use it to get sample from the bottom and I could drain with it ?? Is that possible ?

the pump will work fine to drain. i use a wet dry vacuum to empty my reservoir.

the sight tube on the side is one place that will be hard to clean and a breeding ground for potential bad shit that will impact your plants

I've done that with a shopvac + 3" hose, I looked away and when I looked back my airstone was mia and the shopvac was running 5x louder.

12 gallon containers for each plant seems like overkill unless you plan to grow monsters...and seems like a hassle to have to change out and haul that much water...i use 5 gal buckets and it seems more than adequate...the only time I wish it was bigger is towards the end of flower when they start drinking more.

DWC works best with a full and cyclic pH swing. 5.4-5.8

I've found 40-45 gallons to be about right for plants under a 1000w HID. Too small and the pH swing is too quick, too large and it takes too long. Too quick or long will produce deficiencies and reduce quality.

I actually explain a full flowering run, the way I do it, in the book I just published. I have a preview I published over on steemit.com, looks like I'll have to copy it here. :)

Did you join RIU to plug you book for profit?

I joined RIU because I'm tired of people handing me low quality bud. I'm tired of dispensaries putting their bud on their top shelf, when all of it belongs on their bottom shelf.

I live in colorado, people hand me bowls of bud all the time. It's gross. People lack awareness of true quality cannabis, I know I did for at least 8 years as a grower. *facepalm*

Selling my book would be nice, I've sold 5 copies in a month. It's not the main reason I'm here by a long shot. :)
