hey guys heres the up date on the cfl situation. according to the box they are daylight 100w 1600 lumen 5000k per bulb also says energy used 23 watt. I got 5 boxes of 4 of these. I am not gonna be having more than 2 going at one time and I got a small space to do this in anyways until I can get some money up and either build me a decent cabinet or buy one. as always the info is appreciated

the real watts are 23, the 100watt equivilant is just clever marketing, ignore this, them bulbs are great for veg but not for flower, for flower you want 2700k cfls, if growing autos you can use 2700k from the begining, but for a more healthy grow its best to have both at the same time, by the end of a grow i have egleast 12 2700k bulbs and 5 6500k bulbs, although it is very hard to place them all around, i put a metal cage around my mj so i can place the bulbs, i also put a small 12v pc fan under the canopy to help ventilation.

I appreciate the info its been helpful. my area is real small. like a pc tower type small. I had all the stuff laying around so I built one for a first grow.once I get it down then I can invest in something different. I will get some of the 2700's. being disabled I don't have a lot of money but ill get me a couple. cant wait to get started.

you can pick up 2700k bulbs nearly everywhere, amazon ect. or many shops sell them, diy shops, supermarkets, anywhere really, just try to get as much lumen as possible per bulb, remember higher watts doesnt mean higher lumen, and you will find it is very hard to get the cfls where they need to be, if just leaving to grow you will find fan leaves get in the way and you cant get lights close enough to the main bud sites, and you end up burning or chopping leaves, all of this is unwanted stress, what i do is almost modified lst (low stress training) when i get to 5th node i gently bend and tie the stalk to one side of the pot, i usually let her need water just to make everything more flexible (i only starve her once so she can recover) once side shoots start to grow a bit i release her and let her grow towards the light as usual, when she grows vertical again, side branching is extremely slow, but i tie the side branches slowly so they grow outwards, when the mj is budding i found this extremly useful as it ables you to place the cfl inbetween the main cola and the side branch, using the whole cfl rather than one side, and remember to use the sides of the cfls not the ends as these give off more light.
ok i got that been reading up on lst and it was real easy to understand for me. im going out later will snag a few bulbs, i got a hydro shop i just found online in my town surely to god they will have em. we will see

i doubt a hydro shop will have ordinary cfls, they will have high end ones, especially for growing but they come with a big price tag, while you are in town have a look around at hardware stores (not used to saying that being from uk) i think you can go to a place called wall mart to get them, i think you may be disapointed with the hydro shop.
yeah going there to check out nute lines they carry. a friend uses a guy over there. i now know what i need just gota get it only need a couple im in a pc box thats why i started looking up lst method. thanx u helped out alot oh and walmart was where those others came from

ohh ok, try get bio bizz bio grow and bio bizz bio bloom, cheaper than the other nutes that use fancy artwork to draw you in, and do a really good job, dont bother with top max, it is useless, any shop will try to push it on you just to get another sale. have you any idear what you would like to get ?

if tou can go for bio bizz bio bloom and bio bizz bio grow, they are cheaper than most others and really work well
ok ill give it a try with this being first grow just trying to get what works and is within a small budget. I know some folks that use it and they swear by it. I can also get a sample of it from them to try before I buy

you can get higher wattage CFL's like 55w or 65w etc. at either walmart, home depot, or lowes

I will just trying to get shopping done so I have what I need to get started. thx for the input
so just a little update. got my beans in the soil starter and everything popped out as expected. now I had to remove outer shell of one bean and the other went just fine. I got them transplanted into final pots due to them being autos and I don't wanna stress plants.
I didn't pay attention and one of the pots had a plastic screen like thing in bottom to cover the holes. two drains were open other two not so much. I was wondering why my water schedule was off. long story short. had to remove the bottom plastic piece in the one and replant it. do you guys think that it will make it thru. they are thc bomb auto if that helps thx
