New to growing. Stealth grow questions.

Preface: No real questions. I was stoned when I made this topic and I am unsure why I added questions to the title. Fucking ganja.


Hello all! I am a pretty new member to this community and would like to start off on a good foot. After almost a full month of browsing just about every marijuana forum on the interweb I would like to say that the vets here are far and away my favorites.

I have learned many (many) things and would like to start my first stealth grow. My wifey (read: Fiancee) went from the one who introduced me to pot and cigs in high school to making my life hell about them. If she were to find out I was seriously thinking about growing I believe I would become a eunich. Hence the need for a super stealth grow.

I am still browsing for the best gear for my setup (Can't use credit cards or paypal, etc. Fucking wifey!) so everything needs to be found and purchased locally. I intend on purchasing a server (or full atx) case for this build as I have been building computers for longer then I have known wifey.

Within this case I plan to implement a two 90cm fan cooling solution to offset the three CFL lights (two 65k and one 27k for vegging; the reverse for flowering) I will use to illuminate my case. THe inside of the case will be mylar'ed (word?) of course and I will be making a custom carbon filter for the exhaust fan.

I haven't figured out the nutes yet but I presume I'll end up using a slighty N heavy nute for vegging and a slightly P heavy nute for flowering.

In closing I just wanted to post this so I could ramble about my ideas and say hello. So look forward (or dread ) hearing more from me. I shall see you all then.

since you know so much and have been around pcs so long why not start your own pc grow?
i'm almost positive you have pc tower at home. clear them out and convert them into a grow box. you can make one for veg, flower, and clones.

I intend to just that, so obviously I love your suggestion! Unfortunately I only have mid-atx cases and smaller that are empty here at the moment. Trying to find a full-atx case or server case as I stated in my OP just to ensure enough room for my random bagseed to grow properly. Topping can only do so much and I'd prefer to not LST on my first grow. Too many variables to become comfortable with the whole thing imo.

Edit: Anyone else think it's unfair to randomly take away the naked girl covered in fake bud add and replace it with a beefcake man add? Dicks in the advertising dept. imo.

if you would like to pull this off your gonna have to read info on LST and/or how to use a screen. this would really save you a lot of room.

LST is not hard and it works. or make a screen like hauvert says. you're gonna prob. not have too much time for veg. probably like a 2 week veg....

you can use emergency blankets inside the box.

also what wattage bulbs you planning on using?

all I can say as make sure you get one with no light leaks! my rents actually just found my plant tonight...in my pc case due to the fact of a dam light leak...thank god they werent to pissed and let me keep it tho

Shiit.. I wish I had chill 'rents like you. Anyways, would his idea of building a carbon filter in the case work? Would it get rid of any smell detection? I'm trying to do this, too. I live with my parents (I'm 17 >.<). Should I just wait the extra year till I head out to university and get my own place or start now?

truthfully man it would be smart if you just waited...parents arent dumb..my parents always catch me no matter how smooth I am...shits always going to be there for you to grow and smoke. Home wont be if you grow and your rents flip and kick you out. My rents arent rly chill they hate the shit really lol but im 21 now and I do what I want lol...just dont like it in there house..besides im moving out in 2 weeks and as far as your carbon filter yes it will work seen plenty of stealth cases with them

I was actually planning on picking up a small roll of straight mylar. Are emergency blankets recommended or just a cheaper alternative? Do they create hotspots?

I was planning on coating the entire interior in mylar and using a rubber gasket cut to fit my side to ensure light-tightness. Any tips to provide better light shielding?

Edit: You got caught and they let you keep it? I was always straightforward with my parents since I was in highschool and told them I smoked. I still kept mystash and paraphenalia hidden as a mug though. Fortunately I was living on my own since I was Krawnik's age so I didn't have to sweat it for long

Building a carbon filter inside the case would be, as far as I was aware, too airlow-restricting. A single decent one just outisde the case (on the exhaust) should prevent light leakage and be a decent air scrubber.

Some parents are dumb. You should be situationally aware enough by the time you're 17 to know if you can pull it off. If you aren't you shouldn't be growing. You give good advice though. The best grow for those still living at home will of course be someplace the 'rents never venture. My friend grew in his second floor crawlspace which was only accessible via a small entryway in the garage. A fat father and a typical housewife made for good insurance for him

I would prefer to not screen. I have read UncleBen's (btw shoutout to you UB. You fucking rock) guide to topping and would prefer to go that route with a dash of LSTing mixed in.

I was actually thinking more along the lines of four or five weeks of vegging considering I was topping anyway. Would this be too much? Should I only top to get two colas instead of four to ensure enough case space?

I plan on using 50w or better bulbs depending on what I can get my hands on.

Edit: You have any easily accessible (read: leaving no paper trail) suggestions?

idk man, it's gonna get real bushy/tight in there. us guys like that, but your lady won't for sure.

Good point. I would still like at least a week of veg time to ensure a good root/foliage structure for my lady(ies) so I guess I'll just try it on my first grow (bagseed) so I can refine it for my second grow with a real strain. As always I appreciate the input!

yeah, i like doing that too. kinda like when i was in high school and we'd have all these bs labs in science. haha.

Bwuahaha. I actually loved those labs (/pushes glasses up nose) because I got to burn shit. My teacher was big on fire and acid.

Come to think of it I think he did acid.
