New to growing & this sight.

Hello everyone i have just started growing my first plant and its about a month and a week old. btw im growing a regular marijuana plant.. figure id start off with that. I have a few pictures that i have attached, sry if they look bad.. its a camera off a phone.

Anyways I have a few questions i would like some to know.. for one ive read that male plants are usually grow more tall and stalky while females usually grow bushy.. is that true?

Second im having to wonder if this slight discoloration on the leaves means something is wrong? Ive been reading things on here to try and diagnos it but i dont want to make the mistake of doing something i will regret.. i think it might be too much light is what im hoping.. Also in that same pic u can tell the ends are slightly curling up, this is occuring on other leaves also. Its not hard to the touch so i dont think its nute burn..

Anyways if u could please help me out with these few noobish things.. would greatly appreciate it..

Ok, well first, you can't distinguish a male from a female during veging.. Ppl say that there are signs, but there is def. no way to tell for sure..
Second, you spelled "site" wrong.. lol sorry just busting ur balls..
3rd, no tin -foil, get rid of that shit, it's less reflective than flat white paint.
4th, ur plant is not tall cause its a male, its tall becuase you have insufficent lighting.. That is for sure..

Fill me in with more info and I can help more.. Type of lighting, medium, ect.

oh and btw that discoloration looks like signs of heat stess, tin foil can cause hot spots on the leaves too, btw...

yep get rid of the foil and lower your light. get it as close as you can with out it being to hot so use your hand on top of the plant to feel the heat..i would add some 2700k cfl's and start 12/12 soon this plant is already stretching and its going to get about 3 times taller by the time you harvest it. cut the new growth off the top right now so when buds start to form you'll get 2 or 3 on top not just the one.get what you can from this plant and do better next time. if you don't have a fan on it get one.

Oh yes btw my lighting is just simply a 70w hps light lol.. not to serious yet about the whole thing but i am willing and learning. It was on a 18/6 but for a few days i changed it to 16/8 thinking the leaf problem was to much heat. Basically its me and my friend trying to grow a plant for personal use and see where that takes us. Any advide is welcome please, im sure this site is full of very knowledgeable people.

Quick question, the leaf curling like mine would be another situation of heat stress?
