Hello Good People,
I grew indoors in the 70's and early 80's. Back then seeds were cheap and you had many varieties. And I used what we used back then and had success. It has been at least 35 years since my last crop. Now I am not a OutLaw. But EVERYTHING is different. I got my seedlings up well. I went to my local supply store and was told the way people are growing Supper Weed now is Super Nutrients? IS THIS TRUE??
He recomended ROOTS ORGANICS with Buddha Grow and several other things, am I starting out right. I imagine everyone has their favorite lines of nutrients.
So brands do not matter. IS IT TRUE THAT TODAYS POTENT PRODUCT IS FROM POTENT NUTRIENTS?

Definitely not. There’s so many factors that go in.. environment, pheno, nutes, grow style but most importantly it’s you, the grower.

If you can.. do what you used to do with a few updated pieces of equipment! Do what you know and you’ll d great. Shops like to push products with flashy labels and big promises.. but the plant can’t tell the fuckin difference. As long as you give em the right nutrients you don’t need anything special.

Thank You all for your answers, I actually needed a few nutrients. Back then I used miracle grow and fish emulsion. I am not sure anyone would use that today. It sure seemed simpler. I need to learn and understand the modern lingo of nutrients and while I do not want to sound lazy, I still want my weed to be good. So it does not come down to needing 15 different nutrients. Which I am begining to understand most of them actually do the same thing.

If i could suggest some basics to help (ratios can be slightly changed)

a basic veg formula (salts or organics, your choice) with and NPK ratio of 2-1-1 (6-3-3, etc...)
a basic flower formula, with NPK ratio of 1-3-2
a micro nutrient formula (Fe, Mg, Ms, S, etc..)
cal - mag if you use RO or filtered water, i just use tap and don't need this.

so really only like a few different bottles. No need for a cabinet full of different stuff!

You could also for-go all the nutrients and find a soil that you only need to top dress. I used slightly amended Fox Farms Ocean Forest and a weak compost tea (pre-bottled from the store). I just put a 2" layer of FFOF on before flipping to flower and its enough to get the plants all the way through.

I ran into issues this grow because I tried adding too much stuff. Always K.I.S.S and your will run into way less problems.

Much love and happy growing bongsmilie

The biggest change over time is marketing! Studies have brought certain advantages to light, where it's possible to make improvements, but always be reasonable with your cost and investment. I would rather look at introducing foliar feeds and teas and if you aren't already as a way to enhance what you may have done in the past. Try a new medium, experiment with DWC or just continue to do what worked for you years ago. Most of all, have fun and enjoy the journey!

Miracle-Gro still works just fine, just cause it don't cost 30 bucks or sack don't make it bad, these young guys just can't control their fertilizer.
I can tell by your picture we have something some of these other guys do not have, and you can not buy it.

What are you riding there, I have a 1937 WLA, a 2015 Street Bob (best running bike I have ever owned.) and a Sportster that looks like a retro chopper.
I love to ride.
