New To Growing

My plant has been growing for 5 days and the stem is already 3 1/2 - 4 inches and I'm wondering if that's normal or if it's having to stretch for light because the stem is sort of curving to the right

Thanks guys one more thing I put the plant closer under the light and now the stem and plant has straightened up and looks completely different from the picture I posted and I think it's vibrating but I'm not sure if that's because I'm high or because it's growing before my eyes probably the high thing though

just add soil to cover up the initial stretch. CFLs can be kept VERY close to your plants, I'm talking inches for max efficacy.

try and keep the light as close as possible without overheating the seedling.
you can bury the stem some in extra soil.

You can get CFL's pretty darn close. Like smithdav said, do it without burning the seedling. But i find it difficult to do. Like many people will say, put the back of your hand to the bulb and if its too hot move it away from your plant until its within reasonable temps.

yeah but be extra careful replanting a baby or you could damage the delicate root structure. it if was mine I'd stabilize by adding more soil and moving the light closer.
