New to Hydro - Need some advice

Hi RIU Community,

Im starting up a new grow soon in a new space and want to venture into full Hydro setups.

I am getting my list of purchases together and want some input on the systems below.

I am an avid fan of DIY, but want to get a premade system the first time around to see the functionality.

Here are two links, I'd like to know which one would be better for a Hydro beginner:

RDWC system

Let me know your input. Also, I'm open to suggestions as I have no prior experience with hydro (except a homemade bubble cloner I had a while back)

If it helps, I plan on running either 2x600w or 1x1000w. I have a huge garage to grow in so im not restricted on space. I will have everything I need to make it a perfect environment, minus Co2 until i lock everything in.

Never done aero but the second unit IMO is not aero system. Just a recirc system called aero lol. Water levels in both systems are controlled by main bucket level and roots will be below water level. My issue with those systems is if you have an extended power failure the plants die. I experience them quite often so I opted for a flood and drain type system so roots are not flooded if power goes out giving a bit of a safety factor. If it was me I would opt for first option if choosing from the two. Bigger return line, less chance of complete root blockage. Good luck with it all! Keep us posted!

Yeah ive been debating on which hydro system to go with. Is flood and drain practical for a perpetual grow? im think about doing a perpetual grow once I get things dialed in. I guess taking the individual pots in and out would be ok, but id just have to worry about the nutrients right?

If I were you, I'd begin by doing one plain old DWC grow in a few buckets. Once you get the feeling for this simpler version of the system, you'll have a much easier time figuring out how to improve it by turning it into RDWC or whatever.
