New to hydro, what system is good in a 2'X4'?

I grow in a Ebb n Flo system and I paid $20 for a water pump and $10 for a timer. I have been using the same pump and timer for almost 5 years now. they are very reliable and not that expensive. I use an overpriced 2x4 tray but you can get creative and use a small cement mixing tray from Home Depot for $10.00 . A 18 gallon tote to use as a reservoir only cost about $8 .

if you are cool with 15 minute intervals then 10 dollar mechanical timer works fine. if you need finer control you need a cycle timer.

I guess ebb n flo doesnt matter since it only floods a few times a day, but I use a minute/hour cycle timer for ebb n flo moms, and second/minute timer for aero.

I run lp aero and have pump on 15min then off 45 roots dont dry out you get real nice air roots in top of net pot pump barely heats water because of intervals
