new to riu

Wussup peeps! Just thought id make it in and show myself. I currently have two beauties growing now. Both just bagseed cause its my first time. Because of funds I'm running 2 100w equiv cfl's at 20 hours on 4 hours off. They've been vegging now for about 2 weeks. Everythings looking good so far. They are already in bigger pots to cancel out transplanting (good or bad?) I water every night at the same time. One is about 4-5 inches tall with awesome leaves the other is a bit shorter and is getting it leaves. On the second one mentioned there is a hole or crack in one of the leaves and has a yellowish spot on it. Any ideas? Ill try to get some pics up later tonight.

Welcome to RIU - glad you showed up.
You really shouldn't need to water every night, especially if they are only 2 weeks old. Every 4-5 days should be more like it. Heres a tip - take another pot of the same size & fill it the same way with the same media (soil?). Then use that as a gage to tell how moist your planted soil is.
Again glad you found us, new members are always welcome.

This is the first I mentioned. I over shot how tall it was lol.

Here's a side view of the same one... pics from my phone I kno they suck

This is the second one mentioned. Notice the crack I was talking about? And the foil looking things are the under sides of the lids to the "to go" meals from a mexican resturant. My wife is a server lol

Welcome...always nice to see someone out there doing it up. Can you provide some more info? Like what type of oil are you in? is your water at its proper ph? whats the lumen on those bulbs? 6500k or 2700k.....you need 6500k for veg and 2700k for flowering...if you plant to flower under cfl's. Are you feeding the plants with nutes? you shouldn't be yet but if you are that's what could be causing that yellowing...im going to follow your grow so keep it up bro!

potting soil from lowes... with compost, sand, perlite. im using only bottled spring water (walgreens brand). no nutes yet. and im a dumbass the lights are 2700k, which i thought were the 6500k. so i will be getting some different lights. that being said with the plants under my current lights, am i hurting them in any way?
i plan to try to pull off a full cfl grow by the way

Welcome chickenhead. You're definitely going to learn a lot here on RIU. Between growing techniques, nutrients, soils, lighting & so much more like the haters that have nothing better to do than bust balls. Don't let them frustrate you & it's pointless arguing with them. The block button is your friend. Enjoy RIU

:peace:

thanks for the info gwn and mookie. i do hope to learn as much as i can. also my mom is a total hippie so my basics are fairly good. so i just added a couple things... i was told my 2700k "soft white"100w equiv cfl's wouldnt do the best so... i kept those which are in clamp shields, took a broom stick and cut to size to fit in the closet, snagged some sockets out of a couple lamps that were in the basement wired them up, mounted them on the broom stick. kinda like a ghetto track lighting system lol. in the two extra sockets i put the 6500k "daylight" 60w equiv cfl's. my only question now is should the 60's be in the clamp shields or are 100's ok in the clamp shields? my 60's are low enough so i can keep them about 3inches from the actual plants as are my 100's
