New to scrog

Ok I grow in a 6 x 8 room and veg with 600 mh/hps 2 Mars hydro quantum’s and a 4’ T5 HO 4-54 watt 5500k.I am doing 4-sour diesel and 4-Durban poison some in ff soil + vermiculite some coco+perlite using dirty dozen bites.Ok my grow room ceiling is 5’6” and these being sativa and mostly sativa May work well with a scrog but I wanna maximize my yield!Any advise on scrog net height or veg time also I want to top these and use to clone.

You need to train your plants starting now. Literally don’t stop the low stress training and super cropping under the net. You can top and all that as well. But be sure to stay on top of the tucking under the net. I would say set the net up no more that 18-24 inches from the top of the pots.

With a 5'6" ceiling, I'd keep the scrog net low. Roughly, one foot for the pots, one foot for the scrog net, two feet for light height comes to 4'. The other 1.5' is needed for the colas to grow above the net and some clearance between your light and ceiling so your light has some room for air flow. I keep my net around 10 or 11" but some growers place the net lower. I like to have room to get a watering can in between the net and the pots.

Ok would it be ok to put my net 2’ above the top of my pots,I’m trying Durban Poison and also should I put supplemental T5 side lighting below net or is it better to trim all the branches under the scrog net?

Pots around 1', net at 2' above the pots, leaves you 2.5' for colas and lights. Maybe if you keep training outwards during the flower stretch. At some point you let the colas grow up past the net. If your colas are about 6" higher than the net that leaves you 2' so it will depend if you can run the lights around 18" without burning or bleaching (you need some room above the lights for airflow). Maybe if the lights are dimmable so you can tweak it if they show signs of too much light. I don't see how side lighting could hurt, even if you are trimming a lot below the net. As long as you can keep the room cool enough with all the lighting you should be good. Keep in mind that Sativas may stretch a lot. Good luck and throw a couple of photos up if you can.

No, 2' above the pots is too much in your tight area. That doesn't leave room for the big buds to grow. With your net at 3 feet that leaves 2.5'. Lights take up the top foot. That leaves 1.5' for the buds. But you have to leave the lights 1 - 1.5' above the buds.....
