Hello everyone,
I've spent a fair amount of time lurking in this forum as well as a few others trying to absorb all the information I can. I think I have a fairly decent plan of attack here. I just wanted to throw it to the mercy of the experts and see what kind of advice I can get.
I'm planning on building a 2' x 2' x 4' box to keep in the closet of my spare bedroom. Unfortunately I don't have much more room to expand beyond those dimensions, so I hope it's enough. I figured I should be able to grow 1 plant in there without a problem. Correct me if I'm wrong. It'd be nice to get two in there but I don't have enough experience to get my hopes up. I've read it's a good idea to circulate the air at-least 3 times per minute in grow boxes, so I'm planning on picking up two silent 37 cfm fans to install, wiring in some kind of speed control to assist in temperature regulation, and build a carbon filter system. From what I've been reading people seem to be getting pretty decent results with standard furnace filters from Home Depot.
As for lighting I was hoping to stick just to a 250W HPS. Although I'm not even really sure that's enough. Would it be wise to use compact fluorescents for the veg stage and swap it out for a HPS during the flowering? Ideally I'd like to just stick with one type of light and leave it at that, however since I'm only going to have one plant I'd like to make the conditions as optimal as possible.
I'm a little concerned about the heat being generated by the lights, so I've looked into LEDs. I get the impression that just standard LED lights you can pickup at any hardware store won't cut it, and I don't really have the budget to go into purchasing expensive LED grow lights.
I'm also wondering if anyone is in the similar position with a lack of real space to discretely grow. I'd prefer not to have to start from the seed stage each time, but I also don't have a separate storage area to contain a mother plant for clones. I've thought about cloning just before going into the flowering stage and finding a place to stash it while it roots. Hopefully by the time it's ready to be transplanted I could harvest the one in the box? Anyone have any luck with this sort of thing?
I've been reading a bit about re-vegging, and that seems rather interesting although I HIGHLY doubt I'll be successful at it my first shot.
Any and all comments, questions, or jokes would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
