New To The Growing Thing...Problems already...

Growing them indoors.

Water them when needed, when soil becomes excessively dry at the top.

Growing them in some Miracle Gro Organic Choice potting mix.

No idea what stages they are at this point...

At one point in time, I was growing all my plants in a cardboard box with 2 compact fluorescent (6500K spectrum) lamps (they're desklamps, but it's what I had, and the spectrum was right on em, and they were free). I had them on a 16-8 light cycle for vegetative growth and used a solution of plant food in a squirt bottle as well as distilled water.

I had started my plants in starter trays with seeding soil in them. They grew very slowly. 4 sprouts, I put in a window box with organic garden soil. 2 sprouts I put in individual plastic pots with the organic choice potting mix. They 4 in the window box grew very, VERY slowly. The 2 in the pots, grew much, much faster and larger by far.

2 plants in the window box ended up becoming male and putting out pollen, even though they were only 3 or 4 inches tall and not bushy in any way. I killed those two off. One of the obvious females I put in her own grey pot. The other female is still in the window box.

I transplanted one of the separate, bigger plants into a bigger pot, and it instantly came back to life after starting to wither. The other separated one is all curled up and pretty much dead (I prolly can't save it I guess).

Now....the female in the big grey pot is growing more steadily now that I transplanted it. The bigger plant in the green pot is now starting to wither in the same manner as the other separated one.

The two in the larger pots, I have moved out of the box and put them right inside a window because a guy who used to grow the stuff told me that the plants might just need a little natural sunlight.

I am completely amateur at this and I don't have the money (at the current moment) to spend on anything really fancy.

What the hell is going on? Am I overwatering them? Underwatering them? Too much light? Too little light? Too much nutrient?

Can anyone help me?

I'd say the light is way too far away and they're over fertilized

They're basically dead

I don't think there's a point in trying to save them unless you absolutely can't get your hands on seeds

At their current state I would not add ANY nutrients at all.

To me it looks like a major combination of not enough light, too much water, and too much cheap nutes.

Get those 6500k lights 2 inches away from the plants and let them grow for a week without water. Then when the soil get's bone dry, water them lightly, and continue to do this for 2 weeks.

Those plants look really bad man, is there any way you can stick them outside to get some real light?

well....the one in the larger gray pot is looking great, I just can't focus the camera well enough for you to see how well it's doing...

the one in the smaller grey pot, I JUST threw out, I might as well start over with that one...shit is dead

I can't really put them outside, since I live with my father, who is not cool with herbage....he'd definitely do some research and find out what kind of plant it is.....if it's not already obvious...

also....I been growing these guys since like....december....and they're still so small......I KNOW I fucked up at this point....

Okay, okay.....

I only have one plant left as of now. Her name, is jupiter. But she's really funny lookin and small...

For some reason, she started growing buds while she was very, VERY small. And she continues to grow bigger leaves higher up near her top.

Here's a few pictures....tell me if I'm still fucking it all up....I moved the lights close (2 inches) to her on her sides and I rotate her frequently during the day.

I also forgot to mention that somehow, a family of gnats has made their home on the surface of jupiter's soil.....I guess the fluorescent lights have been attracting them.

I don't know if gnats could become a problem at any point....

but Jupiter's bottom leaves also have little yellow spots closer to the jagged edges of the leaves.....she's grown slowly from day one....prolly due to my lack of knowledge and experience......but all of a sudden, she's exploding with new leaves...

nobody?

I just need to know if she's acceptable, even with her bad (aka cheapskate) start....

every bit of equipment for this project was five-finger-discounted....I mean, EVERY BIT aside from one of the lamps and the little fan I have...

I have a clone that seems to be doing well, but I cloned a plant that I found outside of my dealer's old apartment (growing between the sidewalk and the building, a seed must've fallen from his window or some shit into the crack), so I have no idea what it is....as a matter of fact, I don't know what any of them are....I HAD 3 kush plants, but they all died directly after sprouting...

i think you would have better luck hiding the plant somewhere in the sun instead of the little itty bitty light

well....I actually have two CFL lamps that are both 6500K spectrum and flexible....

I've now placed the lights on the sides of Jupiter....to try to get her to grow outwards...

since I started putting her between the two lamps, she has grown MASSIVELY within a few days....

if you go back to my first post, you can see Jupiter by my window, and she looks all scrawny and shitty. compare that picture to the ones I JUST put up....you'll see that she's growing well....

at this point, I'm just concerned about her stem being so long and skinny, and those gnats that have seemed to show up... (I have my whole grow operation in a cardboard box with aluminum foil (I know, shitty reflector, but it was free and I'm broke)....

I have Jupiter on an 16/8 light schedule for her vegetative growth.

I DID however notice that one of her bottom leaves had turned white on it's tip....and there are a few little tiny spots on some of the lower leaves....should I be concerned?

stem is long and skinny for 2 reasons

1.) Distance your light is from the plant. the plant is suffering from lack of light therefore it is reaching out to try and find it basically causing it to be tall and lanky

2.) get a fan blowing on the plants helps keep the stems nice and thick

I agree with the fan, and I think you need to invest in better lights. Get some nice TS Florescent's. I think Light is very important.
Good luck and I hope she gets better. I'm a first timer and having a few issues myself.

I have a fan circulating air in there and blowing not directly onto the plant, but near it.....

I started off BADLY with the lighting....but I seemed to have corrected that problem now...
