I can get clones of 3 of my favorite strains right now but due to flowering my 600w is unavailable and i'd like to keep that for flowering purposes regardless. My q is whats a decent wattage of CFL that i could hang for cheap so i can get some bomb bud in my house? I want to keep it simple and cheap for if i have the 600w available i will be using it. I was thinking maybe 100-200W and put it in the corner until i get a tent. Also if i get a one 100w CFL and switch to 600 HPS for flower will this hurt the plant or shock it?

i think youll be fine with a bunch of cfls depending how many plants youre growing..and my plants dont seem to go into shock from 600w.

I suggest 3 or 4 42 watt cfls (cheaper per watt I think) and hang them with cheap trouble lights with the plastic bulb guard removed. You could do 3 of them for under $40.

nah ur good. the thing about cfls is they have to be relatively close and in high numbers. they work but u need a shit ton to get even close to the lumen output of an hid lamp. go to walmart or home depot and grab three of those cone shaped clamp on reflectors, grab 3 2 way ligh bulb splitters and grab 6 bulbs that are in th 40Watt and up range 65k bulbs and ur in business. should cost about 70 bucks once everything is paid for. they will veg ur plants fabulously till u figure something else out. unless u wanted to spend a few extra bucks on a nice 250 hid or something like this.

this is the way i would honestly go. more lumens out of one bulb. it would take 17 30watt cfls to get that much. one bulb 32000 lumens or 17+ cfls at 1800 lumens a piece max.

also ebay has pretty affordable grow tents for around 70-90 bucks and they are in all sizes. 2x4, 3x3, 4x4, that kinda shit.

damn i didn't think it come down to that lol yeah i think it's a better idea to just get another light! Also thank you for bringing up grow tent im in need of one big time what are good sizes the most plants i will ever ever have is 6 so i'd like to be able to fit a light fan carbon filter all that with a little work area for myself and the 6 max i've got no idea about dimensions and since i'll be ordering it it will suck to get too small of one.

ive got a 2x4 tent/ its 8 sq ft of floor space. i had 13 plants in one gallons anywhere from 13-19 inches tall in it. u can fit 6 in 2 gallons for sure maybe 3 gallons max. comfortably. but for a 250 mh id recoment more of a square tent than a rectangle. a 3x3 or something of that nature would be perfect depending on how big u r gonna let them get. a 3x3 will fit 6 2 gallon pots easily. but make sure when u order it u look at the dimension cuz some are not really 36x36 inches.

GE daylight energy smart......actual 6500K. walmart carries them. they're about 7 dollars for 2......if i remember correctly. 100W equivalent per plant will suffice, but i like 2 bulbs per plant on a splitter.
