Newb help on sexing (pics)

I have 8 plants growing in a flood and drain system. Under 400 watt Metal halide light.

Plants are around 5 weeks in veg. Topped all plants to develop more colas.

Can i sex the plants now to get shot of the males? Then put the fems back in to veg to grow the more before eventual flowering?

SO can i switch lights from 18/6 to 12/12 to sex, then switch back to 18/6?

How do the experts sex their plants early?

Im no expert, but from what i read in the forum here. you can switch your plants into 12/12 at any time you want.. even straight from seed. But re-vegging i dont have a clue about.

flower when your ready and throw the males away, sometime vegging for a while will give you pre flowers

Back then I would clip off and clone *cough*top cola*cough*, then flower the clone *cough*top cola*cough*.

sorry my man your gonna have to run that past me again (in nemb speak), cough? cola?

he is saying if you want to sex your plants what he does is take clones, he cuts the main top of the plant off and clones it to flower it and figure out its sex. i never saw an advantage in doing this. i just flower them all at the same time, and i watch them close enough to notice when they are flowering and care enough to watch them to make sure they are what they are and catch it asap.

ok dude dont do it.

take clones of all ur plants, label properly. -i stress this
then when clones take roots, put em to 12/12. if they are females, then keep em and their original.

if they grow balls, then chop them. and their daddies.

if the clones are healthy or wont cost you anything keep dont kill em, when u find out whos a girl and whos a boy. they have become an extra plant, that will grow a bit smaller, due to no veg time, but still a plant. which ends up being more weed.
