take a look at par for each unit more important then watts at wallso you think the Johnson cx-9 (the 9 cob) think it says its 540w would be a good choice for my 5x5?
or...
the go green leds 6 cob 300watt x 2? for a total or 12 COB and 600w I really think this is gonna be my choice if I can get some agreement herelet me know what you guys think

Only thing I can say is, Johnsons are 3590 & go greens are 3070. BUT there's a code "RIU15" on gogreenleds.com for 25% off. So... your call. I use a 4 cob go green and have had GREAT results.so you think the Johnson cx-9 (the 9 cob) think it says its 540w would be a good choice for my 5x5?

That'd get the job done. They have switches to use only half of them at a time. Believe it or not, that pic was the VERY FIRST DAY I had ever switched all 4 on. That growth was strictly from 16 cfls in the hoods I built you can see (8each)and just 2 cxb3070's at 1400ma. The go greens are all 1400mas so they get a nice rounded 50w per cob for easy marketing.

I love these hoods I built honestly. Found the how to build on youtube for film lighting.
Since then I've switched the cfls to mainly ge bright stick leds. Left a few blue cfls though for uv.

well during my research of led's I contacted a few manufacturers one being Amare technologies and got a response back that seems interesting has all the components iev been told is what you want and it says its running a true 900w

They sure look cool, but I could never justify paying 2Grand for 4 cxb3590s and some cheaper smaller chips. That's a fuggin ripoff man.

oh I agree with you totally on the price just thought it was a cool design. so there is no benefit to the smaller 10w cree bulbs incorporated with the COB? still leaning towards the 2 gogreenleds just thought might be some cool info to post

Oh there's benefits to all cobs. But it's better to just have all cxb3590s in my opinion.

ya id really like to go diy and use the savings towards the grow in other areas but not sure if I'm ready for it if I was to troll the net could I find a in depth how to including what and where to buy the products needed and assembly instructions for the half dumb how much of a project would it be like an evening thing with the solder gun and wire stripers?
