3 gallon pots are perfect. 6 months gives you three flower cycles @ 1.5 zips a plant to grow a pack each cycle is doable. If you do coco make sure you buy good coco that is washed and precharged or be sure you do it to lower cost coco. You could probably use 2 gallon buckets and flip at 1 foot with your height restrictions and be fine . Coco will grow a nice plant in a 2 gall pot.

One more question TWS,
I'm going to my local hydro store tomorrow to get coco
Should I be thinking about charging the coco before I transplant my seedlings

Depends on what brand of coco you get. The more expensive stuff will be rinsed and charged and ready to go. Just ask your store rep.

Hmmm, so you need to get 5 oz per plant each harvest in limited space with CFL's?

Well I'm stcking around, because if you do it, I'm following in your foot steps brother.

And I hope you do do it :joint:

Herb Man,
That's not actually what I said (or meant to say anyway)
I have space for 12 plants, I'm guessing 1 or 1 1/2 z per, 3 cycles within 6 or 7 months and then shut down for the rest of the year
Sound plausible?

TWS,
I'm building a container tray system with a drain for runnoff
Also, the 3 gallon pots are MUCH larger than I expected, and I may scale back to 2 gallon

Three cycles is definitely possible for a 3 season grow. I start in Sept. and end in May because where I am it get's too hot in the summer to grow indoors without AC. You will needs a 1000w fixture to do it with though, anything less you and your plants will not be happy in my opinion.

1 1/2 oz per plant?

Very plausible, but you have to choose strains that will be compatible with your space.

So short indica's are going to be more suitable than a Sativa plant for example.

Then you will have to use techniques to maximise yield, then you should be good.

I'm making some headway in the construction of my space
Note the 5gal bucket and milk crate to gauge size of space
The interior walls and ceiling are painted with exterior "flat-ultra bright white" paint, and the interior of the doors will be as well
The upper shelf will be covered in a rubber membrane for protection from water tomorrow, and the lower floor insulated with R38 insulation covered with 1/2" plywood, and also covered in the rubber membrane
The door is weather stripped, and all possible penetrations and openings are silicone caulked up the wazoo

The "passive" intake is based on a plan I found on this forum, 10" width & 5" height (50 square inches) and should allow my 6" 240 cfm fan & carbon filter to draw and exhaust with little or no restriction (I hope)
It's all 3/4 plywood, has a 18" tall baffle inside the box mounted inside the door to block light from infiltrating, and is painted flat black inside with screening on both inside and outside port openings

Unfortunately I'm still short of funds due to my sister needing my help due to her illness, but I'm doing what I can
It's a fair sized space, and I should be able to get 3 large toters w/6 plants each for a DWC grow in here as well as using the lower space for moms and clones
EDIT:
My little brother decided to join me today, wants to do DWC, and is going to help finance this, so DWC it is!
I have a few "bag" plants (3 weeks) going in peat, vermiculite, and perlite, and they are looking better every day since I started a VERY lite feeding, and "root 66"
They are outside from 6m to about 6pm in full sunlight (so far) , and then under cfl until midnight for 18/6
My 4 tube, 48" high output 6500k T5's are incoming, also my 2 - 4 tube, 24" 6500k T5 side lights
I have no plans for back-lights, but won't be surprised if I need to add them
I also picked up a Technaflora starter kit from my local hydro shop to get up and running, so hope it wasn't a bad decision

I'm experimenting with LST, so if you see something wrong, PLEASE speak out!
I suspect the "tie down" was NOT pulled down far enough on plant (second image) to promote a new site to form, but it's only been 3 days since I did it, so maybe I'm too impatient
I await your expert advice . . .
