Newbie Bout To Start A New Grow

Hey whats up guys, Ive be readin through the wealth of knowlege on here for awhile and figured Id finally sign up and share as well as ask for some help.
Well as of the end of this month I will be moving into a townhouse and am fortunate enough to get the master bedroom. So of course I wanna start gettin my grow on. Theres a nice walk in closet in my room and im wantin to build a cabinet to go in there to cultivate. Ive decided to do a 6(h)x1.5(l)x2(w) and run a 250w mh/hps set up. Nothin crazy just somethin for a couple plants. Where Im slowin down at with the design is the intake and exhaust of the box. Now of course I want to run a carbon filter since I want it to remain as stealth as wood cabinet in a closet can get. But Im having trouble figuring out what cfm exhaust and intake I should run. I will post up pix of the box when construction starts and keep ya posted on whats goin on. Any help/advice/tips & tricks is welcome.

mines basically the same as yours only not as tall, maybe a little longer and less wide. im gonna throw a 150hps in there with a cheap 4 inch inline fan with filter and for the intake im gonna stick a 4 inch duct booster at the bottom to blow air from outside the cab in. put the carbon filter/inline fan up at the top so it sucks the heat from your light out. just my suggestion.

I believe you should invest in a tent. Inside a closet it would look just like a seperate wardrobe. I would use the reccomended cfm that the carbon filter company reccomends. For instance my filter reccomends usin at least 425 CFM.

yeah but he prolly is like me and lives where medical isnt available and that leads you to do stealth. you cant have a tent sitting inside a empty bedroom case someone comes over, or the cable guy etc needs in that room and then your busted.. id rather put it in my closet and if someone needs in there i can just say i got clothes in it or something but the chances of someone looking in your closet is slim unless your water heater is in there and a pipe breaks lol.

i mis read what you said. my closet isnt that big. its got sliding doors and a shelf, i can only put it to a max of like 5 ft before its snug with the bottom of the shelf which i did.. and like 33 inches wide before its snug with the shelf elbow thing that holds it up which i did so its basically as big as i can get mine. idk about his though if you got space for a tent i would get one.

Apparently you dont understand. He is growing in his closet and a tent in a closet looks just like a wardrbe.

Thanks for the responses guys. I've thought about a tent but Im not sure about it.Since medical MJ isnt offered here (yet =[), Id like something I could lock and feel alright about leaving it. Also, fir3dragon, you mentioned using a 150whps in a simliar space. In your opinion do you think the 250w will be too much?As far as the carbon filter goes, Im uncertain on how to go about picking the "right size" for the space Ill be using.

If you're anywhere near the Ft. Lauderdale Swap Shop, check them out for supplies...not lighting but everything else.

That closet will get hot with any HPS set-up. I'm using over 300W actual of CFL's as *supplemental lighting in roughly the same sized area, and I still have to open the door.

Check out ebay they sell grow tents that come in different sizes, fully equipped so you can get all you need from one supplier in regards to size and lighting check it out on ebay.

Thanks guys. Ill hit up ebay and take a look for sure. I love the Swap Shop but unfortunatly only get to go every few months since I'm a couple hours away. I have been thinking of switching to CFLs to cut on electric consumption and heat but since I'm only going to be growing a couple plants at a time I wanted the highest yeild possible(from soil). Idk theres still alot of variables that can and will probably change once its built. Thanks again guys!

i would go with a 150, or 250 but get the 250 aircooled so it doesnt got as much heat sitting in your tent. im getting a 150w just for now and eventually ill upgrade maybe i dont really got the space.. i wouldnt go higher then a 250w in mine though. im gonna put a duct booster fan at the bottom to blow air inside the cab and use a duct booster at the top to suck it out until i can get a inline fan & filter and use a clipon fan inside to circulate the air and make the plants strong instead of weak stems

Thanks for the advice man sorry its been so long since Ive been on. Works been crazy. But Ive decided to do a 250w with a duct booster at the bottem and a inline with carbon filter up at the top..Probably going to go with a all-in-one set up from HTGsupply for the light so I can run MH for veg and HPS for flower so the swap out work will be cut down. Now its time for me to do some research on Nutrients since thats the area I know least about lol..Cant wait to get a grow started!
