Newbie from Africa

Hey everyone! I’m very happy to have found this site and to be apart of this wonderful community of growers. I moved to Africa 2 years ago from the states and I decided to grow weed not having any previous experience. As far as the equipments, I have a 60”x 60”x 80” Apollo Horticulture Grow Tent, Solis Tex ballast, basic Amazon exhaust fan, ventilation setup, FloraNova bloom and Grow, PPM and PH meters, root stimulator, humidity and temperatures Monitor, farm fox ocean forests soil medium, dehumidifier, 1000 watt double ended hortilux bulb, a autopilot timer and finally general hydroponics ph up and down.

I started with 5 blueberry kush and 6 purple hippie hybrid, please don’t ask what that is my sister had bought them lol. I germinated all 11 seeds which all pop tap roots and transplanted them into party cups the 3 day and placed them under 28 watts led bulbs. 3 seeds never pop their heads out the soil and 5 died 3 weeks later. Now all I have left is 3 plants which I just happened to transplanted today into 3 gallons pots. Temperature and Humidity fluctuates from 31c- 38c Temp 54-70 humidity. I have know clue what the fuck I’m doing besides what I’ve learned from here and there research and YouTube videos. But I will say I’m passionate about being a master grower one day, I’ve even took it upon myself to learn soil and plant biology for better understanding. I will be grateful for any of you guys to help me out on this journey. Looking forward for feed back and I’ll also post pictures soon!

The best temperature range for cannabis is between 18°C and 26°C with a maximum of 35°C and a minimum of 4°C. Both extremes will harm the plant without necessarily killing it. Your humidity is good until flower when you want to lower it to about 35% to 40% RH using your dehumidifier. Be careful not to amend that soil with any nutrients until you see slight deficiencies to avoid burning your plants. It might have even killed some of the weaker seedlings. It's better to start with something that has low nutrients in the party cups and transplanting into the ocean forest soil. Also keep in mind that every time you transplant into fresh soil it has renewed nutrient supplies and won't require feeding for some time. Good luck to you sir!

So I’m currently in Liberia and I’ll tell you this, controlling the temperature and humidity is very challenging. We only have two seasons, raining and dry. I’m looking to buy small portable cooler to see if that will help with the temp. And how long is “some time” without feeding? Do I not water it at all? Also you may be right the chemical solution might have been too high for the seedlings, that’s prolly why so many died before making it to second week of seeding stage

You still give water as you normally would. I highly recommend letting your soil dry out thoroughly in between waterings to prevent root rot and fungus gnats. Some time would depend on the size of the plant and how much it is transpiring and uptaking nutrients. You can use your ppm meter to test your runoff water and compare it to the ppm of the nutrient solution going in to find out how much your plant is using. It's easier just to learn to read your plants by using a diagnostic chart and comparing early symptoms. If you don't want to do all that you can feed a 1/4 strength dose when you think it needs it just to get the plant ready for higher doses. In all honesty though less nutrients is easier to fix than too many nutrients.

So I’m in the first week of my vegetative stage and the cotyledons leafs on two of my seedlings are turning yellow and dying. Is this Normal? Also one of the plants first set of leaflets have one orange spot on it. Can anyone explain to me why this is happening?

Ghost Face,
Welcome to RIU!
This site is great and loaded with info, but sometimes it's a challenge to find.
I would recommend you starting out your knowledge search here:

Great site, set up as tutorials, with loads of subject matter.
When you get stuck with a specific question, the RIU search function is your friend.
If you have a question, there is a good chance that it has been asked and answered already.
If not, post it up.

Good luck on your grow, and your journey.
Cheers,
WillieP

It's normal for the cotyledons to yellow off and die but it's a little early. I wouldn't worry about the orange spot. You haven't started giving nutes yet right?

Bro they all died, Liberia been having a gas shortage for 4 days. I wasn’t able to get gas to fire up my generators, for that’s what most of us use here because local electric company’s aren’t reliable. But yeah, the plants went with out light for 4 days. Humidity spiked up to 86, I decided to open the tent to allow natural light to shine over them. Left the house that morning, when I got back they were dead
